Line 6 Relay G-50 Review/Question

Thanks for the opened up photo. I was going to check that also.

Update - worked wonderfully for another show! Woo! No issues. I bought the Sony ULX replacement cable ($20 at Sweetwater.com), with the angled 1/4" connector - no issues or interference crap to deal with. The cord did not lose signal when bumped or shaked.

G50 baby! Better than a cable - try it and hear for yourself.
You mean the SHURE WA302 cable?

Got a G50 Thursday since 6/12/2010 is the "OUTLAW" date for my EW172 which is now carried as a backup. The G50 was fine. I'll try to A-B-C the G50, EW172, and cable(20 ft.) and report back. I too dislike the connector, straight jack, and shortness of the cable.

Will the SHURE WA304 cable work as it already has the angle plug?

From reviews at most sites, the 4 pin connector flex point is the cause of problems.

Yes, that was trhe cable I ordered. Been working well for me too. No issues in the last 3 shows!

Anyone know where I can get one of these cables over here in the UK? I've only seen the normal straight jack verion

Thanks

I just bought the G50 last week as well. I bought a couple ta4f connectors and neutrik right angles, but what kind of wire do I use. I have tons of mogami 2524, but it looks like there is a shield, a ground and signal. What wire will work to make these cables?

Mogami 2549 is mic and should not be used for instrument signals. What you want to get is Mogami 2524. its a really good instrument cable without blowing your savings on snake oil.

and i believe the reason behind using the TA4F connectors is because they lock and "shouldnt" fall out of or fail if they are soldered right. and also they use the same transmitter for their wireless lav system.

if you guys are looking for something to mount on your strap to hold the supplied cable in place i would recommend a radial dragster.

Here's a great source for replacement cables.

I bought one for my old Sennheiser digital wireless several years ago and have been using it for my X2 (base model) wireless since I got it. It's still like new.

Any update on whether the G30 or G50 will work okay with NiMH AA rechargeables?
there is a thread in effects about it. i forget which kind they were, but the nimh batteries are apparently under voltage, and this new kind works real well for what they guy said was total of about 6-7 hours but the battery life indicator reads full voltage till they lose charge so the battery life indicator is unusable.

Just for the record, the G30 seems to work fine with NiMH AAs. I have used mine for a little bit of solo practice and a 3 hour band rehearsal so far, on one set of batteries with no problems so far.
