line jumpers

I would have been irritated, and rolled my eyes if the person looked at me, but I wouldn't have said a word to the person or anyone around me.

-Mike

People that line jump rely on people to do nothing, which is why I said something. Had all 8 people in line spoken up, then maybe he might think different next time. He might not, but at least he was made aware that people are annoyed.

I would have picked random, embarrassing crap and placed it on the counter, like "sir, you dropped this...laxative...and this....easy riders magazine....and this....pack of marshmallow peeps...."

or, let it slide.

Depends on my mood and how ornery they get. It's when you get playful and smile a bunch while doing it all is when people really get lit...may be a dick move, and no better of me than the person in question's actions, but beyond the "respect your elders" bunk, you get what you give. But I always go for polite first.

I know it's not the best response in these circumstances, but I would have gone completely ballistic on the guy. I know this because something similar happened to me a while back and I really couldn't stop myself - I'd genuinely just lost it. Luckily the guys backed down before things turned physically nasty.

Maybe ,just maybe ,he had to get somewhere ...

Like the hospital for a sick or dying comrade...

More than likely he's just a jerk .

Say something ? Probably not as I have a tendency to make it escalate to WWIII... Tom petty sang "I won't back down"

I'm one to live and let live. I don't know their story and won't pretend that I do.

Besides, anything after the fact doesn't change the fact that he cut in the first place.

Breathe, and move on with my day. Life's less stressful if you don't care about the a-holes.

Probably so, but in the big scheme of things, it's not a big deal to me. There are some days where I wish my biggest problem was an old man cutting in front of me at the gas station.

In the interest of full disclosure, I wasn't always like this. Just a few years ago I would have been the guy to start yelling and make a scene. That old man would have known I was pissed off, and I would have made sure a few other people in line joined me in the venting of my anger. Maybe 20 years ago I would have been physically confrontational in a moment like that.

Age does strange things my friend. ;)

I'd roll my eyes and let it bug me for all of 5 minutes before I forgot about it.

Lol at people who think their over the top gas station confrontation is going to teach some 60yr old Ahole a lesson in anything,

Most of the line cutting I see is at bagel places and delis, where the shape and space of the store is not really helpful for keeping things orderly. I'll stand really close behind people, breath on them, stand in front of the cash register while they're trying to pay, generally, I'll act like an oblivious *******.

What is the deal with old people at delis? The second they order they gotta stand right in front of the cash register. When it's time for you to pay, you have to work around them, and perform ballet-like poses to hand your cash to the cashier and receive your order. You order... then you back up a few steps, you won't be in anyone's way and other patrons will be able to tell that you're already being helped.

That's kind of me too.

Queuing is practically ingrained in Britishness :D

He could be a foreigner.

In most countries senior citizens have priority.

I can see where that makes sense.

Not having so much time to wait around and whatnot :hiding:

people like this bully their way through life until someone stands up to them. It's no different than the bully on the playground- they only stop when someone puts a stop to it. Pieces of crap like him are not worth an assault charge, but I definitely would have let him have it in front of everyone, then chastised the hell out of the clerk for taking him out of order.
