Since they are modeled after real world pedals/effects, no. I like your thinking, though. I have found myself wanting that feature.

) would be a must for me as I would like to be able to use the preamp in my head(s) and switch to modeled preamps inserted at the effects loop. Being able to record directly into Logic ProX digitally is a very nice to have. Probably the Helix floor is where I need to be, I just don’t want to shell out that much coin right now, especially on an unknown for me. I have zero experience with multi-effect units for bass. Also, I just picked up a new Roscoe last week so probably need to ease off the GAS for a minuteMy Bass Pod XT is sitting on my computer desk!Am I the only one missing the form factor of the bean PODs?
In the early 2000s me and a guitarist in a band was in had our bean PODs on mic stands or pupiters and control floorboards on the ground.
It might just be the nostalgia talking but it was a great solution for comfort, tweak settings on the fly with your hands without bending down, while playing stomp on the floorboard to engage/disengage effects or switch banks.
Plus, take the bean as a seperate unit as an headphone amp for practice.
Me too. That being said I would love to try out the new Line 6 tech.
Really in a dilemma whether to go for the POD GO or HX STOMP. Just need an all in one solution for live gigs direct to FOH.
Have many people here used the POD GO as an all in one unit?
I replaced my entire pedal board with the Pod Go. It has everything I need for live performance. There is nothing I'm missing or sacrificing by going with the Pod Go. In fact, it's MORE flexible than my old rig which I sold for a nice sum and put money in my pocket after buying the Pod Go.
Me too.
I always land back on seperate pedals, but I have a soft spot for Line6.

The Pod Go could hold it's own imo. I haven't used it in a live setting but it has decent bass amp sims.. decent cab sims and you can download custom cab IRs and install them on the pedal. The Pod Go has 4 fixed and 4 unfixed blocks though. The 4 fixed blocks are dedicated to Amp block, cab block, volume pedal, wah/modulation pedal. Where all 8 of the HX Stomp's blocks are unfixed allowing you to opt not to use an amp or cab sim or expression pedal. The best effects for bass have a mix or blend or wet dry setting.
Either could get the job done. My Pod Go kind of makes me wish I had a helix. At the same time, the Pod Go has a smaller footprint and is lighter weight and easier to tote around, and offers many ways to enhance your bass signal.
I'm honestly planning on building a pedal board around an HX Stomp XL along side 3 source audio pedals, my markbass compressore, and 2 dunlop mini expression pedals.
When I do? I'm going to keep the Pod Go. That way I can leave my pedal board at a rehearsal space and still have a decent rig to play through at home.
The switch layout on the StompXL is very similar to the Pod Go's switch layout so at least that much of my setup will be very familiar.
IMO the choice really boils down to whether or not you want to pair the HX stomp with other pedals on a pedalboard, or if you really want an all in one unit which, the Pod Go is a nice option for the price. Also whether or not you're okay with 4 fixed blocks on the Pod, or the added customization that the Stomp or Stomp XL offers with its blocks being unfixed.
I don't honestly find the fixed blocks to be much of a limitation. I love the cab sims. I would use the amp sims if I was playing direct and had no other preamp. And being able to switch between a volume pedal or a wah pedal or other effects you can assign to the expression pedal is nice to have.
Thanks for the reply. What kind of effects do you run? Do you go direct to FOH?
I seldom use “effects” outside of a drive/distortion or an octaver.
On the Pod go I do run an amp model, a compressor, and an EQ. That’s it.
I have done other patches set up to emulate a B15 or an SVT. But only use them if I need that particular tone.
I do go direct to FOH. Just need to pick up an inexpensive 1/4” TRS to XLR cable.
That's good to know. I'll definitely be using Octave, perhaps some synth too. How would you describe the Octave?
Also when doing direct to FOH does the POD have a pre/post switch like some heads do?
The octave is good. There is a bass specific one.
There is a main out and there is an “amp out”. The amp out can be pre or post. You can also configure the FX out to send the signal out anywhere in the chain and you can configure the FX in to be an AUX in.
Thanks. Lastly Do you have any tips on placement of effects/expression pedal? As in adding before or after amp. Seems like you can drastically change the tone.
1.21 is out. Plenty of new stuff.
