List your "never-sell" axes!

I will never sell my'69 Thunderbird been mine since '77. We have been through a lot together over the years.

Anyone who has sold, bought and traded as many basses as I have should never say 'never'...

However, I am confident that these three basses are located on the very bottom of potential selling items!

I have also recently bought a great EBMM SR5 that I find it hard to imagine that I'll ever let go... And I am expecting my new RA Mouse to arrive soon, which I definitely expect to become a 'keeper'.

I'll never get rid of my El Degas Rickenbacker copy. I'd never be able to find another, and its just perfect. As far as I know, I'm the only person in the southern half of the US with one. Every other Degas branded Rickenbacker I know of is in the northern states and Canada.

I'll probably never get rid of my SX 75 Jazz. Mainly cause its modded, beat to hell, and no one would buy it

Well, let's see? There's the ... a ... um? ... Nope, sold it.
How about the ... hum? ... Oh yea. I traded that for . . .
Oh! Sure. That killer .... Nope. Ebayed two years ago.

I can think of about 10 basses that I might have put on this list at any given time since joing TB is 2001. As of today, I no longer own any of them!!!!

My 1988 Sadowsky Standard "SWR"!

1) It is a Sadowsky!
2) It is a 21 year old Sadowsky
3) There is some interesting history to this bass.

You'll see in the photo below there is a "SWR" on the headstock. Well this bass was originally made for Steve W. Rabe, founder of SWR. It was used in his product showroom at SWR and went with him to all the NAMM shows until he sold SWR. Also, this bass appeared in some SWR ads (see below) in the early 90's.

As of now, both of my basses. My Schecter was my first bass and my Peavey is a one of a kind (sorta; it's a Grind -quite common- that was defretted, and I got it for cheap, but everyone has heard that).

My amp and effects though, those I might sell without any remorse.

...
'78 Fender P-bass. It's got my all-time favorite "dig-in" neck and it's THE one I turn to for recording. On account of a bad refin, it wouldn't fetch much cash or trade value. Since it's so invaluable to me, why ever bother?

I would LOVE to come across something like that. As it is, I have only one "never-sell" instrument but it's not a bass. Everything else has a price tag if the right offer comes along.

As some have said; never say never. That being said, the basses I have that I would never ever let go if at all possible are:

1985 Peavey T40 'burst that replaced the '79 T40 natural I had a few years earlier and sold like an idiot. Learned my lesson with that and this one goes nowhere if I can help it.

1995 Fender MIM P-special "Cowpoke" 'burst. I wanted my first Fender to stand out and I think it does and WOW is all I can say for it.

1981 Rickenbacker 4003 Jetglo. My first Ric and this one feels like it was made just for my hands.

1987 Peavey Dyna4 stealth black. I say I would never sell that one BUT if I found one just like it in better shape cosmetically I would let it go for the one in better shape. But it would have to be identical (ie old style super ferrites and all black hardware to go with the paint)

I have a few other basses that wouldnt hurt me any if I never sold them but those are the ones that will never go anywhere until Im too old to care if I have anything to say about it.

Oh yea, I replaced the first bass I ever had, a 78 Memphis lawsuit Pbass. This one is all original and complete right down to the paper serial # on the back. Rarely play it, dont care, I got my first bass back more or less so thats fine.
