As soon as someone makes a padded bag for my Tecamp Puma1000 that allows me to leave the speakon and power cables connected I'll get on board with the idea.
As it stands, going with a shallow Gator rack provides more protection, allows me to keep things plugged in adds very little weight and I can literally tuck my bass, in its case, under my arm and grab the rack. A shoulder strap would be slightly more convenient, but this method has never let me down.
When I bring everything out for larger gigs (two basses in hard cases, two Hercules stands, rack case, pedalboard in hardcase, LDS 15/6/1) it's impossible for me to one-trip load-in/out anyway, so it's of no consequence if I have to use a free hand to carry one more item.
