that sassy bar-fly has "mojo git-me-some" stamped all over her!! very sweet colors and crow's feet, m' man!!
personally, i think the fender stratocas' is a great in-joke gag for us in the know, and it looks cool!
however, i personally would've opted for a vintage "Hondo" sticker!

I'd have the decal done in the nice Fender-looking script, too. It would be a great conversation piece, and if it plays halfway decent, more power to'ya!

it does look really nice.. fender or not.. and i'm not intimidated, or threatened, that it has a Fender decal on it..
the funny part is, there are many manufacturers who have private contract luthiers make endorsing artist's instruments, but slap a brand name logo on them..
which is not any different in ethics than sticking a decal on a "non" fender product..
and the intent was not to deceive anyone.. nor, gain "cred".. it was an aesthetic thing..

It's just too bad he took a perfectly good vintage, road-worn Hohner and turned it into a cheap fake Fender. It probably had more mojo before...

J/Kiding put someone brought up a great point(don't know if anybody fly fishes?) but the name `Sage' is like the holy one,people down at the river say`well i HAVE a SAGE too!' i'm like,well,where is it?(or who cares you can't cast 50 ft with what you have

and there are Custom authorised by Sage `builders' and of course they get the warrenty repair work for their local(lowcal?),,,yet it's still a Sage due to the`blank' used(and the warrenty of course)every other part of the rod is not nec. sourced thru Sage' and in fact can be nicer quality components
so(sigh) as long as the neck is awesome,frets are great,,electrics work i'm happy,,and i didn't get to plug in tonight and practise,no wait!,yesterday

I dont get it...
It's a precision with a stratocaster decal that tries to imitate a vintage jazz bass? That bass has some serious identity crisis!
Edit: I'd rock it for what it is, a nice precision. Put some flats on, give it a setup and I bet it sounds just purty.

It might need the nut slots raised (one way or another; new nut, shim nut, or build up and refile slots) instead of more relief.
I like your bass, it looks well made.
I find it strange that people lovingly accept and proudly display millions of copies of Fender bodies, necks, pickguards, etc; but, as soon as a decal is put in the wrong place it becomes time to get a rope and string somebody up. So the other stuff is legal...big deal.
This place officially has no sense of humor. Y'all seem to enjoy getting bent out of shape over these kinds of "issues." "Stratocas" is hilarious, and no one with any sense will mistake it for the real deal.
It's been said "a bloke is unbearable when he gets a guitar in his hands." I'd say that goes double for a few bass players around here. Get off your high horse, and folks might see eye to eye a little more.

I'm not terribly down with the Fender decal, especially if the intent is to make it look like you've got something you don't even plan to use. Statocas almost makes it an ironic statement but I'm guessing that wasn't the point. You could save a lot of stage space and weight by painting a block of wood gold and writing "real gold brick" on it. Set it on top of your amp, maybe with a spotlight. Now that would really show how you roll!
