Looking for a new Combo Amp; Need some Help

So, here I am, sitting around, with two fairly nice basses, and a little Crate 15W combo. Do to a recent spike in my career (being the only bassist at my college) I have discovered a need for some personal equipment. I need a combo with a large amount of flexibility, from jazz to rock and pop for pep band. easy transport would be a plus as well, I need to get it to the top of the stands for the football games.
I'm looking at a Kustom DE200-210 right now, but I also looked at an Orange CR100 BXT, though info on that is hard to find. I'm not looking to go much past 500 and I wont go past 750. any advice is appreciated.

+1. Consider changing the title to "question" or maybe even "question about amps".

We could mouseover the title and read the post without clicking on it, but at least if you gave us a subject line like, "Words" or something to that effect, we could decide whether to invest the 0.0000002 calories required to drag our cursor over your title. YMMV.

Are you seriously the only bass player in your whole college? Dude. Do you have any idea how many chicks you are gonna pull? It's gonna be insane! Dude!

Dude!

p.s. re the amp thing I guess you are gonna have to go out and play some amps and buy the one you like.

p.p.s Dude!!!

Thanks for the tip, and if I knew how to do those things I would.

Yes I'm the only bassist, but the college isn't that big (5-600 on a good semester). All the girls I pull are crazy too, but that's another forum.

Seriously though, I'm just wanting some suggestions. I'll go out and play on a lot of amps, but I know the instruments a lot better then I do amps. Thus the forum post.

As much as a weighty amp would be a problem, I do need something that can pump out a fair amount of sound. I've got to pump over a large brass section for pep band, and I'm behind EVERYBODY during Jazz (the sax line almost never hears me, but if i pump it loud enough for them, the drummers think I'm trying to kill them, cause the sit directly in front of the cab). So I'm looking for at least 150w (I think).

500 Watt amp w/ 1x15 or 2x10 driver(s), $639 + S&H.

I'd probably go for the 1x15 version which weighs only 40#, but you might get better tone with the 2x10, at 48#.

Talk to someone at Carvin, though, about impedance matching. The web ad says 300W @ 8 Ohms, 500W @ 4 Ohms. You want to be sure that the driver(s) offer only 4 Ohms impedance so you won't need an extension cab to get the full 500W if you ever need it.

The 2x10, at least, should be properly matched, since I use the same amp as a head with a Carvin 600W 2x10 cab, and it holds its own with a loud drummer and two guitarists using tube outfits. I've never turned it up above 4 on the input stage and 5 on the power stage.
