Looking for Overdrive - a special one.

I want a natural, organic sounding Overdrive with tone shaping capabilities.
And I'd much prefer if it was something boutique level, from a small builder instead of something mass produced in the far east. I prefer it if my money goes to a small business within the musical scene.
Price doesn't matter answer = Broughton Sunray (rare as hen's teeth)
Realistic answers = CAL Grizzly or Spaceman Saturn VI (easily obtainable)

Probably a lot of good options to solve this one.

Darkglass VMT was my first thought, but Way Huge Pork Loin (or Pork n Pickle, same circuit) also excellent for this. TC Mojomojo also good if you want an inexpensive option.

But I haven't tried all the others mentioned--I'm sure many of them are at least as good. Crowded space here.

Way Huge Pork & Pickle is the only o.d. that I own now. I LOVE it! Probably does a little more than you're looking for so maybe the Way Huge Pork Loin would make more sense.

Edit: Actually, the more I think about it, I think I'd get the Pork & Pickle in the smalls format and give yourself the versatility to dial in the exact tone you want. (even runs on a battery if that helps it fit your needs)

Please send an email if you'd like to mod that Egg Sack for a tone pot - [email protected]
Hey Ryan,
thanks for replying here. I am in Europe which will make mailing the pedal back and forth a bit complicated & expensive. But since we're talking - what would you recommend out of your personal stable?
I think I've heard a Grey Stache once that had some mod which made it sound a bit more civilized on bass, and there was the Dark Driving which I always liked, but it's out of production and rare over here. Is there some successor to it?

Asking this kind of question on Talkbass can be like throwing spaghettis at the wall, you get a ton of suggestions.

I'll add a few to the spaghetti bowl:

Sans Amp Para Driver - this one is an under appreciated gem. It does low overdrive to distortion, EQ and DI. It became my goto pedal after running through several hundreds of pedals (kid you not, listed in my profile).

Solidgoldfx Beta MKII - really good at doing just a touch of distortion like a B15 pushed passed clean. (In full disclosure I have one listed in the Classified).

Others have mentioned the Bearfoot Blueberry and the Fairfield Barbershop and they are good options too.
