Hooray for zombie threads!

I don't know what all of this "can't use a single 4x10 with loud bands" nonsense is all about, my DB750/GS410 setup is stupid loud and sits in the mix like a sledgehammer...the only time I can even use a second 4x10 is on big theater or festival gigs, otherwise I'm just eating everything else onstage...

I just picked up a GS210 for that exact reason, to have something in between the 4x10 and 8x10 setup for bigger club gigs, and now if I want totally ridiculous UBER BASS I can even run a massive 10x10 setup :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

So yes, in my opinion, if your notes are losing all of their girth at higher volumes, definitely look into swapping out either the amp or the cab instead of just adding more of the same cabinets that aren't giving you the sound you're looking for ;)

I was the resident Eden whore here for many years. I played mainly a WT-800/D410XLT rig. Then I bought an Aguilar DB750/GS410 rig. Then I bought a Glockenklang Heart-Rock/Quattro rig. Then I bought a Walter Woods Ultra/Bergantino HT322 rig. I owned them all at the same time. Then I got old and sold all of them. Then I bought all micro amps - Eden, Aguilar, TCE, GK, Genz Benz with all Bergantino neo cabs.

So no.

Out of your collection you mentioned. Which setup would you recommend for loud deep warm punchy bass is an small package? Looking to make an investment but have no time to drive around trying rigs and it's near impossible to try the glockenklang combo I heard about recently.

For warm and small, I'd get an Aguilar Tone Hammer 500. Depending on how vintage you want your sound, I'd pair that with a Bergantino NV115 or, for slightly less vintagey tone with a little more punch, same head with a CN212. For me, the ultimate small rig is a GK MB Fusion 800 into a CN212. It's still plenty rich in the mids, but has extra kick in the bottom, and crisper highs than the NV115. I'm not drawn to vintage tone, so my TH500 has left the fold for greener pastures, but don't let that dissuade you if you like a nice low-mid emphasis. The TH500 has that for sure.

If you're not limited by a budget, I highly recommend the Glockenklang Blue Soul. It's slightly larger than most micros but still very manageable. It's kind of a happy medium between the GK and Aguilar heads I mentioned. It loves the CN212, but I'm sure it'd sound great through an NV115.

Ken'll probably jump in here to amplify all this. Maybe even argue a little.
