lost a room over stupid stuff (rant)

Actually she is someone who will speak her mind with no concern over consequences. I've seen her do it in another project the guitarist was in and at a venue (Am Legion) that didn't have any food which she found unsatisfactory.

The more I think about it though The more the alcohol in the diet coke can sounds like the guitarist, she doesn't drink much. They were sitting together and he was setting up when the incident happened. Neither the BL nor I have heard from him since the gig, the BL has left a couple messages to call him. I suspect there is plenty of blame to go around.

You're being too gracious but I get the idea. I guess there's a slim chance that this problem has taken care of itself already.

Update

Just got off the phone with the BL. We got the 2 lost gigs back, with the stipulation they don't want to see the guitarist or his S.O. there. We got an old guitarist back who is a killer player and has his head on straight. The BL and the guitarist of the thread have been playing phone tag with him denying everything. The staff at the club was adamant that several of the staff had problems with the S.O. and the problems were consistent with her personality. We're probably on a short leash at the club for awhile so we'll need to be extra careful about everything. so keep your fingers crossed for us

You probably shouldn't advertise the next few gigs at that venue b/c you don't want the ex-guitarist and/or SO showing up and causing a scene.

luckily not too much of a problem. he doesn't own nor can use a GPS so anywhere he doesn't know he has a hard time driving himself to. We have been going to gigs in my car and this gig is almost 2 hours away with a lot of NH back roads. I wouldn't want to go there without a GPS. I doubt he could find it.

Yes. But the penalty for her non compliance would be that the guitarist would then have to go.

Given the added details by the OP it seems losing the guitarist may be the best option. Although I myself would have a heavy duty talk with the both of them before doing that. Don't know how much this guitarist has put into the band (May have been mentioned but I don't remember), but if I had a few years time, money, and work invested in a band and they just axed me with out talking to me first, especially about something I didn't even do... I'd be beyond pissed. And rightly so.

With all due respect Joe, There is no winning with either of them on this. I have dated these types of women in the past and they are hands down, bat-S#*% whack job crazy. She likely has him by the proverbial man parts and likes it that way.

Butch, looks like you've managed to get things back on the rails. I don't blame you for cutting the cord, you more than all of us know how it would have panned out and sometimes it's best to tear the bandage off, not peel it slowly.

Best of luck, congrats on getting back into the club.

Hey, can I call 'em or what?!? This has probably been an ongoing problem throughout the venues and it finally came to a head. Folks will be politely tolerant, turn a blind eye, but finally somebody says "enough is enough". Now is the time to re-build relationships with the venues. Hope the project goes well!

FWIW, this scenario is a word-for-word illustration of a problem we had 6 years ago.

Congrats on the outcome. And while like most I like to believe I'm right, all the time, about everything, it does me good to be wrong at times, and acknowledge it :). I'm the most surprised at getting the gig back. Most bar owners I've knows are complete asses about that kind of thing. Nice to know some are still reasonable.

That's one of the reasons we came out swinging with everything we had. It's a new owner, who seems to be committed to doing and expanding live music (deck in the summer) and seems reasonable to deal with. It's nice that we got our foot in the door early, now we just need to keep it there.

Good work pulling the fat out of the fire, Butch.

Thanks.

I pretty much just stayed out of the way. The BL and his wife were the ones to get us back into the room. I just provided feedback on the guitarist and his SO, as they're friends I've known for awhile.

Finally heard from the guitarist. He's still claiming he didn't bring booze in but he said he only brought water and I saw a diet coke can. He's supposed to call the BL, so there may still be some bull to deal with. We'll see.
