Low Down Sound 15/6.5 Cab

The Berg NV215 sounded good from about 20 feet away; and did a decent job out in the room.
But I typically have to be happy with filling the room, and my stage sound. I couldn't make it sound good to me, personally, from the 6-8 feet I'm usually away from my rig on stage.
Everyone liked it, except me...

I'm probably way out of touch on this thread, but has anybody thought about using a Carvin/Celestion 6" Neo driver for mids?? 50 bucks, 200 watts 90-8000hz, 2.5lbs. Looks like one I may try, on the next build.

No specs and no graphs, and it's about the same price as an Alpha 6a. Answer is: No reason to.

You can get an established solid mid driver (6md38) from Beachaudio for about 80 bucks, also, if you want to cheap out some.

I put a non skid kitchen mat in between my rack and cabinet top, 9.29 or so from Costco. Works great. You can see it in my rig pic :P

They do not walk at all, rubber feet on the bottom + the excellent bracing.

next , i tried it with my Stewart 2.1 { 1300 watts bridged @ 8 ohms...} and Aguilar DB659 ,
and have been using this combo for the past three gigs ...

awesome .

excellent bottom end , and the 6" driver really adds to the mid-range punch .
tight and light .

it's making me think about selling my old Berg cabs ...

:hiding:
:D:D

That looks like a real giant-killer rig there. 1300 watts into 8 ohms, dang...

I've noticed some buzzing with my LDS 15/6.5 cab when I turn up a bit. It seems to only be an issue when I play in the B to C range. I can't seem to pinpoint where the buzz is coming from. The head is securely fastened. The speakers seem securely fastened as does the grill. Could it be something inside the cab?

Take the grill off and see if you still have it. I switched my grill to 1 1/4" standoffs per don's recommendation and there is no longer any noise or grill thwackin etc.

Because it's on the low notes I'd think grill is the most likely, unless it resonates to B/C on the higher strings too. So check that as well.
