Don is getting near start time on a sealed 6x10 for me.Hopefully you'll give it a tryout? :hyper:

I'd love to. It's a real thrill and honor for me to try some of these cabs out. I leave it up to Don as to what he brings over, and of course, depending on if the person who orders it is cool with it. I do give these a very good listen as a 'final quality check', as does Don while I'm playing. So, hopefully it's a good thing for the LDS fans, and getting a picture up on the thread is also hopefully helpful to those trying to picture and decide on their custom cab.

The clips, I guess, are a mixed bag, since it is just a snapshot of one bass and one player with one head in one room, and playback systems can color the sound, but what the heck:D

Would you learn some riffs from Pete Wentz already? :hiding:

That is the next cab that Don said he is bringing over for pictures and a 'pre shipping test'. I believe he has a two way and a three way in the works, both using those 112LF drivers or whatever they are called, with the 18Sound mid driver.

I would be very interested in how this would do with a smaller head. Also, if you get an idea of cost on a two way, please PM me with that info. I am looking for a partner for my Walkabout;)

I'm not up to speed on Don's prices, etc. You would need to call him on that. Don't use email (it takes a while). Don will usually pick up if you call the number on the site.

IIRC as long as you cross over suitably low a 3-way cab doesn't need to be vertical to have excellent dispersion - just need to get the midrange on the high side to make it easier to hear. The dispersion you lose by having the drivers staggered is above the crossover frequency by enough of an amount that the 6" driver picks it up.

For myself, the vertical design is all about ergonomics.

It would be tall enough to do tilt back wheels (unlike the Genz 212 NEOX cab where it's too short to work right).

It would also get the mid driver closer to ear level for those times when you have to stand right on top of your rig. I generally run my 410 on a milk crate for the same reason.

Lastly, you don't need a 24 inch wide cabinet to look right with a small amp:) The smaller footprint takes up less space on stage.

+1

I like all those reasons.
I also like just getting the whole sound up closer to me.
Yeah, love the audience and all, but, it is about me some too;)

Here you can see how much better the vertical thing is in terms of me hearing it...I love both these setups...

Thanks for the advice. I will talk with Don and get his assessment, too. I don't really have a problem with tall and skinny; I figure it wouldn't be more than around 36", the same as many cabinets out there but being thin (around 12") the haul should be fairly straightforward. Room in the car is no problem. How heavy are those 2x8 cabinets of yours?
