...Any advice on how I should decide between one mids or two, and what kind?
I'd look at Post No. 253!

...Any advice on how I should decide between one mids or two, and what kind?
Talked to Don about putting together a 3-way 2x15 (doing my due diligence between all comparable options.) Want something 6x10-ish sized, with a pair of 3015LF's, a mid or two, and a horn. Any advice on how I should decide between one mids or two, and what kind?
A fair number of folks have said, he did not deliver what I specified. I have not seen much in the way of "and it sounds like c----"![]()

The Fatial mid sounds nice, but it's a bit to polite to use with two 15s. I'd go with the 12 sound if I did it again.
I definitely don't want "polite," I want the closest thing to a gigantic high-end studio monitor + sub possible.
The last big cab I had was a GS412, which I loved, but it seems like there's no need to have a cab that big or heavy any more (even though it's not that heavy or big) and I don't know if it'd fit in my new car.
I like single coils, bridge pickup, and grind. Do I need a pair of mids, or will one be enough?

I am doing my best to bite my tongue.![]()

He built me a pair of 3012HO 112s which I was displeased with. Chuffing in the ports with low-end I like to dial in. Some said the ports were too small.
They sure did look nice though...

If the studio monitor thing is you're vibe you owe it to yourself to check out Audio kinesis
Studio Monitor + sub. The TC is a great cab, but it's pretty polite in the lows.
Oh, is that your 'humour' again? Is that what you think you're doing?![]()
Sold to a guy who likes ALOT of midrange. How was this resolved?
rpsands said:Compared to what, a kappalite LF based cabinet? Most people don't need the lows of the 3015LF in a 4 cubic foot box even if they think they do
I'd suggest the poster check an AK cab out if he can. Most people find my TC115 has plenty of lows for them.
* The reason I use my fEarful cab for most things is more to do with the midrange profile and overall sensitivity. But when I hear studio monitor, I always think AK first.

I can certainly appreciate that. Best of luck.Like I said, I'm comparing all my options.
