Hey everyone! I may be joining the club shortly, but I wanted some more info first, if possible. I'm looking into getting this guy:
I'm not too into the know of LDS quite yet. Is this a one-off thing or one of several built to spec? If the latter, maybe someone who's previously owned one can tell me about their performance. If it was just a one-off, though, what would you guys think of this being used as my gigging rig? I've got a Markbass TA501 that seems like it would work perfectly with this (500W @ 4 ohm, 750W 4 ohm cab). I've seen so much positivity from LDS, though, so I'm expecting great things regardless of any input I can get. But, it never hurts to get a word in from the fans!
EDIT: Now that I actually read the banner on the page I found this, it says it was custom and thus not in stock. I'm guessing that implies that this was indeed a one-off thing.
I'm sure Don could build you that cab again, but one thing to keep in mind with LDS : there is no " in stock ". Every cab Don builds is at the request of the customer. He does not build cabs of his own to keep in stock, thus every cab is a one off.
Ah, gotcha. As it turns out, I have the opportunity to buy that exact cab from the original owner, hence my inquiries. I'm going to be checking it out tomorrow probably!

This cab sounded GREAT. Really powerful, definitive lows and highs, and that was just in the guy's living room. Can't wait to gig out with this thing! That is, if I can safely carry it to and from the car every gig night

Has anyone here used a LDS 8x8 cab with 6 long throw 8s 2 mid 8s and a horn? I'm picking one up used tomorrow and am wondering what to expect. I'm running a BBE 383 bass preamp into a Crown CE1000 bridged 4ohms @ 1100 watts. Will this cab handle it well rated at 5.3ohms and 1000 watts?

Well then the only one built will be at my house tonight. I hope I love it as much as I (and my back) want to (I've been lugging around a really heavy 8x10 cab for a year now). I just called Don at the number on the LDS website to try to get a little more info, and left a voicemail. Hopefully I hear back pretty quick.

It's here in my bedroom now. It's about 50lbs lighter than the 810 I was using, it's in amazing condition and I'm really happy!

And it sounds exactly like I'd hoped. Nice solid lows, not too boomy, really beautiful through the full range of my Streamer. It's being powered by the BBE383 Bass Preamp running into a Crown CE1000. Couldn't have asked for a better cabinet.

Getting ready to put some pen to paper on a LDS cab.
Any 1212/5 or 1212/6 users out there still ecstatic with your choice? 3012LF's ?
I'm also considering a 3015/3015/6 but not sure it will deliver the lows 2/ 3012LF's will.

The lows should be the same . I have an LDS 15/6 and it goes down to the bowels. The 1212/6 will be a bit more sensitive, will be 4 Ohms instead of 8, and heavier and a tad louder. The LDS 15/6 has been my go-to cab for about 5 years and nothing has been able to dethrone it. I have tried many others, just out of curiosity, but they are all gone, except a GB Neox 212, which is not as loud or as low as the 15/6.
Lomo's cab is awsome. The 3012lf's will be tighter, punchier and more responsive but, not go as low as the 3015lf. I like the 3012lf so much that it gave me the insentive to put down cash on the new barefaced super twin that uses similar woofers but, with fuller range response. My 12125 is awsome but, i prefer the sound and cut of all woofers.

I have a 15/6/1 that weighs 55lbs, is on wheels, and is a great one cab solution for everything medium sized and under. I use either a GKMBF800 or GK1001 to power it.
The GK MBF500 is a great little head, but breaks up early at 8 ohms.
I've thought about adding the 15 sub, but:
I have a 12/6/1+12 sub that adds up to 4 ohms. Any of the 3 heads above will make it louder than you'll ever need, IMO. Modular is easier for me to move; ymmv.

Sometimes I do too Chris. I have a Kappalite 3015 sitting unused in a box (in the classifieds right now) but I'm starting to wonder if it might be a good candidate for a compact stand alone with 5". Still need a solid representation on my B string and not sure a non-LF driver would float my boat.
