Low Down Sound Club, Part Four

I NEED A NEW HEAD!... possibly...

I have an SM900 and struggled with it for years before I realized it was throwing a lot of power away on ultra-low end crap. Use the Low semi parametric to cut a bunch of that, and use the Mid to add some mids/low mids. Keep the Aural Enhancer at around 1-2:00.
Check out the 'Aural Enhancer bypass mod.' I did it to mine and it's a beast now.

Have you tried TBr fdeck's HPF V3? It will tighten up the low end and protect your speakers.

Check out the fdeck HPF thread http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f15/fdecks-hpf-865291/index25.html#post15060155

The aural enhance on SWR stuff should be off at all times, IMO.
It cuts mids (bad) and adds more unfiltered low end, and high highs.
Use a lot less then 1-2 oclok...

IMO, ymmv, etc.

Field report:

GK 1001RBII + LDS 15/6/1 is a really good thing.
+1 That would seem like a good match. Some players prefer the 700RBII because it gets that signature GK sound at lower volumes but the 15/6/1 sounds better with more power on tap so I bet the 1001RBII is better here. The MB Fusion 800 is a good fit with my 15/6/1 cab. Chef, I don't know if your cab has a mid adjustment but the 18Sound was too much for me with only a -3dB pad. Increasing the pad to -5dB by changing out the resistors noticeably improved the overall balance where I no longer struggle with the eq to make it sound good. Bass and upper mids at noon, low mids at 1:00 and treble at 11:00 slams with the headroom that GK has.

Been a while since this thread had some action. I wasn't gonna post up for a while, but what the heck...

Just came today-just in time to go to rehearsal...(ok, it actually came yesterday.)

Cool, a slightly bigger cousin to mine. It would be cool to compare the two.

Thank you, gentleman. Don's work is FAN-FREAKIN'-TASTIC, and his packing job is just as good! I don't think I've ever had to go through so many layers to get to something? I really think it could have fallen off the FedEx truck and been fine!

Took it to rehearsal tonight and it killed! Just a clean, deep, punchy sound, which is exactly what I wanted, but it was at moderate volume! Real test comes this weekend, we're playing both nights, so it's gonna get a workout. If it does as well as I feel it's going to, I may just go ahead and order another one...

Jeff-is yours a 210?(BTW, not only do we have similar cabs, but we have the same last name! :D:bassist:)

New to this thread. I am talking to Don about a 3x12 staggared cab with a 6" mid.
I have read many many postings now on the cabinets. Is there anyone that didn't like the cabinet they had built? I haven't changed a speaker cabinet since 2005, so I am overly concerned. Don seems like he knows his sh$$ and I like that. Also, does anyone not like the vinal covering? Does he do rat fur? Thanks
