Love vinyl, especially the work that Don does. Lots of nice choices. Great cloth grill choices, too.

Can always do Duratex coating (lots of colors available here, too, if you're willing to pay the upcharge) and/or metal grill, too.

Personally, I can't stand cloth, but to each his own.

I would check out that combination. Unless you get some special order drivers you are going to have a wonky impedance.

If that is the case then the cab would be a 5.33 Ohm impedance. So fine as a stand alone cab, just wouldnt use it with a tube amp, and would have to be aware of the implications of its use with a SS amp.

Looking at his profile, he's using a solid state amp.

A 5.33 ohm speaker will only be be 5.33 ohms at two or three frequencies, so I wouldn't hesitate to run it with a tube amp. I'd probably pick the 8 ohm tap of the OT.

The cabinet that I spoke to him about will be 1000w rated and 4Ohms. I don't know how it will be done, but that is what we talked about and it would be up to him to figure out how to do it. I did choose the Faital speakers - Neo. Probably 3x12 and a single 6. Don was talking about figuring out how to work the crossover. oh, sorry. I will be running an SVT-7Pro. Need the single cabinet at 4Ohms for the 1000w.

3x12 will be 5.3 ohms and won't really handle 1000 watts. More like 500.

Yeah, I'm getting a 610 with the 32 ohm Eminence drivers so it's working out to be a 5.3. I'll be using it with my SVT VR. I've run a 73 SVT for years at 8 ohms with no issue. I know it can be a controversial subject but a lot run them off the 4 ohm tap without issue.

Hello Everyone,
I just received my LDS 610 today. Here it is with the Mesa Prodigy. Obviously it will take me time to break in the cab and get the head tweaked to the cab but so far my experience with this head is at any setting with most any cab it sounds great. This custom 610 is no exception. Full, fat and focused, it immediately produced my idea of quintessential tube bass sound. Don at LDS built this to my design idea, I left specifics in judgement to him. Why hire a pro and then tell him how to his job, I just told him what I wanted. I was looking for that sealed 810 sound. I also wanted a classic Ampeg/Hiwatt British look.
Here are the specs:
6*10 Eminence 32 ohm ceramic drivers each pair of 2 in a sealed enclosure per the Ampeg 810 900 watts continuous 1800 watts peak
No tweeter
Mojotone British Black Levant tolex
Mojotone Black Matrix grill cloth w/ white piping
Rear towel bar, Kick plate and skid rails, with bottom casters it tilts and rolls like a dream.
I also added set in side handles(balanced perfectly)
The cab weighs 91 lbs.

Don was a pleasure to deal with in every way, the materials and workmanship on this cab are grade A. His packing was superb. The cost is competitive to other mass marketed cabs and the quality and workmanship are boutique.

The best part is this rig sounds every bit as good, thick and three dimensional as an SVT classic head and an 810 cab. Pant leg flappin' good. I'm sure it will open up after break in. It is 250 tube watts into a 610 and it weighs 120 pounds compared to about 235 for the SVT rig. It may not have the full volume of the aforementioned stack, but my gig book will not have any arenas in it anyway. I'm a working bassist, and the combo of towel bar, tilt back casters and side handles should make all those three and four step stairs that seem to pop up everywhere move right along.

So you're the guy! I'm getting (essentially) the exact same cab built right now with just some small tweaks. Mine is not getting the towel bar because I'm kicking back the top 210 15 degrees ala Marshall 412 style for gigs that I'm right up on it. I'm just so glad to hear it delivers the 810 sealed vibe. My SVT VR is going on top. Very cool and glad you like it!

That phrase" so you're the guy" has been spoken many different times in many different contexts to me over the years. Nice to be at the point where I don't have to arm myself or take a quick inventory of the last few months tomfoolery when I hear it spoken now!
Anyhow, the LDS cab immediately gave me that sealed punch that I was hoping for. It is very tight and focused. The low notes are round and even, it feels very smooth. Obviously I am taking it easy until it is broken in and Don says the low end will open up some more after 20 hours or so, but my initial impression is kind of like a big strong heavenly piston coming at me. Punch, retract, repeat.
Congrats on your cab, I'm sure you'll like it, Don is a great guy, a bassist just like us. That's a great idea on tilting back the top two tens. I use a 1 by 4 board under the front feet/wheels of my cabs to produce the same effect.

Hey everyone! I may be joining the club shortly, but I wanted some more info first, if possible. I'm looking into getting this guy:

I'm not too into the know of LDS quite yet. Is this a one-off thing or one of several built to spec? If the latter, maybe someone who's previously owned one can tell me about their performance. If it was just a one-off, though, what would you guys think of this being used as my gigging rig? I've got a Markbass TA501 that seems like it would work perfectly with this (500W @ 4 ohm, 750W 4 ohm cab). I've seen so much positivity from LDS, though, so I'm expecting great things regardless of any input I can get. But, it never hurts to get a word in from the fans!

EDIT: Now that I actually read the banner on the page I found this, it says it was custom and thus not in stock. I'm guessing that implies that this was indeed a one-off thing.

Wow, I didn't even think to look for his number, and here it is on the site! What a personable guy. I'll have to give him a ring then and learn more about it from. Thanks!

If anyone has played this exact cab before, though, feel free to chime in as well. Didn't know I could just call the maker himself, though!
