I've used my 12/6/1 over my 15/6/1 exactly once, because I could and I never had.
Capable of Ridiculous Loud.
The 12/6/1+12 sub is plenty for everything, really.

I much prefer the 15/6/1 as a standalone to the 12/6/1.

Ok - fellow LDS fans - I am looking for some input on my potential plans

I currently have an LDS 15/6/1 (3015LF/18Sound) paired with an SVT7Pro that I like a lot and covers 90% of my needs. So much so, that I sold off my other cabs.

However, I do have a need for a smaller cab - but I would still like that cab to able to get loud, low, handle power and still sound clear - like the 15/6 - this would be for medium to small duty.

It also needs to fit in the trunk of my car. So essentially I want it to sound simlar to the 15/6 but in a smaller, lighter format. I also would like to potentially pair it with the 15/6 if the need arises.

So, I asked Don to scope out a 12/6 that would be: 20"H x 16"W x 16"D and be less than 40lbs

Don did some research and said he could make it happen - his reco:
Eminence 3012LF
Faital W6N8-150
Rated at 400 Watts
The cab would be tuned at 54Hz
Cab size is approx 2 cubic feet

All of this sounds good to me but I don't really understand cabinet size, tuning and the implications
I also haven't heard of others using this Faital

Thoughts? Feedback? Concerns with this plan?

Yeah. I think it'd work. Well.

A 12/6 w/3012LF moves 495cc of air. That's more than any commercial 212 on the market, I think. Pretty sure. So it should handle all of your medium needs. Easily. You may want to elevate it (or at least angle it). I would.

But do you mean the W6N8-120? Don't see a 150. Sure it's a very nice driver, but the main alternative to the 18Sound is the 5" M5N8-80. This guy gets lots of love. The Fearless cabs use a slightly different version of this speaker. Just something to consider.

Does your 15/6 fit in the trunk? Guess not, but if so, get another 15/6. Very little price difference between the 12/6(or5) & 15/6.

Yeah, especially labeled 10FH500 .

As with the W6N8-120, sure it's a very nice driver. Unquestionably. It's your bread. Do what you want to do. For me, though, I'd go M5N8-80. Same price. Higher frequency extension. +4dB greater sensitivity. Doesn't handle as much power, but don't think it's an issue since it'd be crossed over to at 800Hz (or so, likely anyway). If power handling was an issue, it wouldn't be used in the Fearless line. Anyway, that's my take.

Would love to hear some real hands-on cab builders let you know their thoughts.

I used a Faital that was recommended in the fF thread, and, by Don.
Don't remember which.

I had a Dr. bAss cabinet built with 2 12" Faital drivers (I don't recall the model) and a Faital W6N8-120. It was a fantastic cabinet, but I sold it off as I was divesting myself of any Dr. bAss stuff. TBer MarkA currently (I think) has that cabinet.

I currently have two cabinets the Don built for me with the same mid driver, it is superb and has a nice, realistic high frequency extension, IMHO. They are mated with 31010LF drivers and Ralf Patterson crossovers that seamlessly matches the drivers together. I cannot tell where the LF driver ends and the W6N8-120 begins, it just sounds like one unified speaker.

Thanks Jeff - while I am going to ask Don about the M5N8-80 - I am still leaning towards a 6" driver in case I want to swap out for the 18Sound to match my 15/6 later. It is nice to hear you've had some good experience with a similar driver - though the W6N8-120 seems to have better specs than the W6N8-150 - so I guess that's another question for Don.

I have an LDS 15/6 with the 3015LF and the Faital W6N8-120 and absolutely love it. This cab gets extremely clear and I find that I have great upper response from the mid!

I would want the tuning of the cabs to be the same. You will have to play both cabs to know if the different crossovers/mid drivers work.

I have a 12x6x1 from Don with the 3012LF and a Faital mid. Very nice cabinet. I had him put a built in "wedge" (metal bracket on bottom that you can pull out to angle the speaker up a bit) and that has turned out to be a nice feature, although I also have a speaker stand from Mus. Friend that I have used as well. I believe my 12x6x1 might be a bit larger than what your specs show, but I'm at work now and cannot check.

3-way neo 2x10 bass cab. 10s are Faital neo 200 watt -400 watt program, and 2- 6.5" Kevlar coated mids and an Eminence apt 80 tweeter with L-pad. Patterson handbuilt 3 way crossover, 1/2" birch-fir lightweight ply with 3/4" birch baffle board, internally braced throughout with upgrade denim fill, 2-4" front ports, casters, side lift bar handles, 2-combo input jacks, small hole metal grill-full face, box is 18' wide, 16 deep x 33.5 tall, tuned 48 hz. The perfect cab for players doing a variety of music styles as all the notes are loud and clear with plenty of low end impact. Coating is Duratex with black metal protective corners.
