Nice-looking blonde 15/6 cab! I hope my order is next on Don's to-build list.
It has been almost 8 weeks now since I ordered my 4x8 from Don. I am really looking forward to hearing him say he is starting work, but last time I checked he is still pretty well backlogged. ETA is not until early May.
Meanwhile I am still playing all my gigs with a Henry the 8x8 that is older than my oldest kid who is about ready for drivers ed...

Thanks much. Don took a few weeks longer than his initial estimate to me, but it was well worth the wait. I'm still waiting for the two matching blonde rack cases.
The waiting is hard, there's no doubt. Be sure to post pics and a review when you receive it. I don't remember anyone else reviewing an LDS 4X8.
I just placed my order with Don on a custom 1x15 ported cab built around a Weber Michigan series 15" to run with my Ampeg B25B
I've got a Carvin B2000 and a Tecamp Puma1000 headed my way. I'll be testing my fEarful form factor LDS 15/6/1 with both of them very soon and posting full reviews. The Carvin shows up on Monday. The Tecamp is a little further out as I just sent off the money order today.

Hey guys! Just did a quick 'test' of a BEAUTIFUL three way 112 (3012LF, Faital mid 800hz, Eminence 1001 tweeter 4K). Wonderful small cab, around 44 pounds, 16 x 16 x 24, tolex, metal grill.
I've attached a real quick and dirty clip with the Puma500, which continues to amaze Don and me regarding how well it matches to this general cab design... big down low, smooth in the mids, and pure sparkle up top.
It's already on the way back to the shop with Don to get rubber feet, a tilt back handle on the bottom, and then packed and shipped to the lucky owner on Monday!

Can't wait for my Puma1000 to show up so I can try it with my 15/6/1. The Carvin B2000 shows up on Monday, so I'll be doing a review of that as well. I can't wait to see how the two amps stack up through this cab design.
Hard to not like that Carvin, given the spec's and price. I tell you what, if it sounds anything like the B1500, you will totally dig it. Not as creamy and smooth and pure up top as the Puma voicing, but the Carvin stuff is darn impressive! Post up!
On a side note, the other head Don and I really dig with these cabs is the Markbass F1/F500... tighter and punchier and a bit more 'in your face' in the mids than the Puma. Interestingly, dialing back the upper mids a bit and engaging the VPF at 9 o'clock moves the F1 somewhat close to the Puma. It still doesn't have the low end extension (you can really see the woofer piston with the Puma), but it gets close. The main difference is that when you really dig into the Puma, it stays very 'sweet' sounding, whereas the F1 goes into full, aggressive 'burp' mode, getting a touch gritty in the mids and a bit more 'barky' up top.
Ps I will say again that the Faital mid driver is just a beautiful sounding mid driver with the 3012LF.. sweet and clear. Don likes the 18sound with the 15 a bit better, but feels the Faital balances a bit nicer with the 'smaller' tonal footprintof the single 112 cab.
Highly recommended mid for those who are considering a single 3012LF cab. I like the tweeter on this one also. Don is looking for tweeters that are a little less 'in your face' than the very high SPL Selenium he's been using. The Selenium sounds great, but I feel (pure IMO) that these cabs are more about 'smooth and warm', and a slightly more organic tweeter is a plus with this design. The Eminence in this cab sounds nice to me. Obviously, plenty of sizzle, but it doesn't seem to extend quite into the 'uber sizzle' region like the Selenium. Nice!

Anybody try the Carvin BX1500 in the bi amp mode on these? If so, where did you xover and how did it work?

That thing truly is a thing of beauty. Major GAS pains here...

I definitely will. I have high hopes for the Carvin, but I suspect the Puma is going to be the winner.
Interesting thing to note: Today at practice I was noticing how compressed the LMTube sounded through my 15/6/1. Once it was sitting in the mix it wasn't all that noticeable, but it really surprised me at how compressed the leading edge of each note felt. I don't know if it was power compression since I was running the LMTube at a fairly high master volume level into an 8 ohm load, or what, but it was definitely audible. The massive amounts of power in the Puma and the B2000 should solve that problem
If I'm not mistaken, power compression is an attribute of speakers - not of amplifiers...
