I gotta get some of Don's 8's for my SWR Henry Jr.- I dig the cab, even with the crap tweet. Eights are not bad at all for bass, up to a certain volume.

That comment was about the heads. I did another clip with the Markbass F500 and that cab, but decided it was a bit redundant with the RH450, which I felt sounded better with that cab, so I didn't upload it. The RH450 is fatter and smoother and warmer than the quick, tight and bright F500. Sorry for the confusion
However, +1... the MB cabs I've played are quite punchy.
For others who might be perusing this thread, here is a picture of the cab you are talking about.

It's interesting, since a few comment that my voice is often low on some of the clips. When I play the YouTube clip on my 'middle of the road' PC speaker system (a slightly upgraded Altec Lansing system with subwoofer), the voice and playing are at about the same volume.
I wonder what is going on there, since you are not the first one to mention this?

How are you recording that "Rising Sun Blues" ? Is it just with the video camera mic? If so, that is remarkable how full your bass tone is on that clip.

All the details of recording are noted on the Soundcloud link/notes section. Briefly, I used a stereo mic recording in WAV format on a digital recorder. I put the WAV file inside the video clip and aligned it in place of the camera's recording. The videocamera's mic was not bad, but not good enough. It's a simple technique with huge improvement in sound.

Yeah Ken. On my system (Klipsch 2.1), your voice is nearly inaudible and the bass sings loud and clear. I've double checked to be sure both channels are working as well.
Ask Don the weight difference between the ceramic and neo long-throws. I got the ceramics (before he had neos) for a Baby Blue II, they are heavy buggers. If the neos sound as good, they might be the way to go with the bonus of losing weight.

Not even in the same universe as the 1212/6, which is a massive, huge, wumpin' machine (and a large cab also). The 12/6, IMO, puts out about 33% more than the 2 x 8/6.
I would think the only reason to get a 2 x 8 cab is for low volume DB work IMO.
That 4 x 8 posted above is a different story, and sits between the 12/6 and 1212/6 regarding volume and full low end.
I'm considering giving Don a call to order a pair of 1x15's using the 3015 like Ryan Mohr's cab that KJung posted a clip of.
I was thinking of getting one with a tweeter to use for practice and small volume gigs with a second tweeterless one to stack the first on top of when more volume was needed.
Thoughts?

Put tweeters on both of them. the 25 bucks is money well spent if you ever want to sell it or use two in different locations.
And always always put on/off switches on tweeters. Just my two pence.
Also: It may be worth your time to consider single 12's with 3012HOs. They are a lot smaller (almost half the size) and nearly as loud except on the very bottom. Bit more midrangey grind.

Unless you REALLY like alot of high end in your tone, the tweeter is more than optional. I have a tweeter in mine, but it's turned completely off now. If I did it again, I would leave it out all together. At a minimum, get a switch.

Given how cheap tweeters are you should always get them, IMHO. Even nice quality ones are only adding 25-50 bucks to a build, and it adds that much to resale value. And doubles the number of people who might want it. And adds tons of tone opportunities.
I deeply regret not getting one on my 15/6 just for the opportunity to play with it.

How do you buy one of these cabs? Is there somewhere else to buy besides www.lowdownsound.com? None of the already made cabs appealed to me. I thought they used to sell other gear too?
