IMHO, it hurts business more to say "It'll be 8 weeks, call me for updates" than it does to say "It'll probably be 8 weeks with weekly status updates on my website here" --- when it turns out to be 16 weeks not 12 weeks.

Maybe in the long run you're right but I think most businesses want the money that they can get now - a bird in the hand sort of thing - they are not about to scare off potential customers with excessive but honest wait times. I'm not saying I agree with it and I don't know if I'm even right but it seems logical from a business owners perspective.

But even if not, it wouldn't be hard to make.

Standard freeware php stuff with a locked thread titled "current delivery schdule" in a "current production" forum. Add pics and sound clips of stuff you did this week for content and you'd have pretty damn nice marketing/customer service tool that'd be as easy to update as adding a post.

I ordered from Don, and told him I'm old school, and he told me he is a couple years older than me.
Now he could be a computer genius too, but I'm bettin he's more like me. Reading the last few posts was like tryin to decipher Sanskrit. Old geezers who did not grow up in the Silicon Valley workforce etc are probably not going to want to update spreadsheets on the computer when they could be at the shop crankin out cabs. I am glad I got my order in before he decides to kick the pricing up a notch to slow the flow of orders.:)

That was an exageration. But I would not know the difference between freeware php and free pups.
I would think gettin a slow cabinet maker in this depressed housing market to crank out the cut kits etc, but I am not about to tell the man how to conduct his business. He knows his bottom line etc, and is doin his best I am sure.

I don't know for sure, but I would bet that Don does'nt actually do the website stuff. Probably contracts that stuff out. It has'nt really changed that much over the years.

C'mon yourself, Mntngrown. I'm 54 years old, but not "old school", and I understood every word.

If you understand the Internet enough to post in this forum, you can learn the meaning of "freeware" and "PHP"... :p

Don is NOT a computer guy:) At this point, from what I understand, he is continuing to dig out of the crush of cab orders that happened earlier this year, and is making progress. Updating the website and generating new orders, etc., is a bit low on his list at the moment until he a) gets everyone their cabs who ordered a while back and b) gets his turnaround time back to around 8 weeks or so.

...
Can't wait to hear about last night's gig with the two 15/6's
powered by the 9.0 though:hyper:
sorry about the delay ... :ninja:

if you really dig the sound of your 15/6.5 cab , then two will just be perfect .
raising the second cab really allowed the drummer and i to hear the bass ,
and the band dynamics improved overall because of it .

deep , thundering lows , with mids that cut right through the mix .
the highs are a bit clouded , but i don't really do any slapping .
it was a perfect setup for the blues/rock stuff we play .

... overall , probably the best sounding cabs since my old Bergantino rigs , imo.

the 9.0 is very powerful , and able to push two 15/6.5 cabs without breaking a sweat .

Along these lines-putting a single 15/6 up on a stand is a cheap, light, effective way to elevate it if the volume of another cab isn't needed. The adjustable, collapsible stand i got from MuFr was 89 bucks and weighs 22 lbs. I can't imagine needing the volume of a 2nd 15/6 unless the venue and situation would cry out for an 810. Obviously, YMMV.

yeah , the ability to use the extra volume ,
if needed , was a big concern for my band.
we play alot of large outdoor venues , and also some pretty big halls .

of course , when a good PA with monitors is available , i'll probably still use only one cab ...

Seventeen days and counting (haven't had any updates yet) for my 1515/66 that was purchased on 6/11 "available for quick delivery". Apparently a relative term. Regardless, I'm sure it's a lovely cab that will become even lovelier when I receive it.

edit: the holdup is with the crossover components. Apparently they were shipped on the slow boat FROM China.

"the 9.0 is very powerful , and able to push two 15/6.5 cabs without breaking a sweat "
Thanks for the report. Mine will in one package when I get it, 1515/66, and I am gonna drive it with a 9.0 so this is great news. I'm blues and classic rock, so your experience was a good preview for me.

Seriously very good deal, the 4x8 Don just built me for $479 would have cost me well over $500 to build myself even before I started using my own time and tools. I was going to build myself a cab, but once i got Don's quote I figured it would be worth the wait. Now I am waiting for the UPS truck...

Just placed an order for my cab, a 2x12 with no crossovers so it should be a quicker build than some. I know most people will say the 2x12 won't have great mid dispersion, but dammit, that's what DI's, mics and PA systems are for. :bassist:
