my two LDS 15/6.5 are not about blowing anyone away volume wise .
the extra wattage from my 9.0 , along with an extra added speaker provide me with a tight ,
punchy bottom end that won't get lost in any mix .
even with PA support , i like to feel the bass , and stacking allows that sensation ...

The dancers and the drummer like to feel us too. We are in the rhythm section after all. Some times you gotta bring your own tools to make that happen. Some times provided, but nice to be able to vibrate the stage for yourself and drummer to stay in synch.
If the PA is bad ass enough and the monitor rig keeps up... you don't need an amp and this dicussion is moot. Get a nice preamp/DI and call it a day.
If the PA aint enough - and you want to hear your bass on stage just as good as it sounds in the studio , and you want the drummer and the horn section and the rest of the room [or the parking lot] to hear it that way also - you can't beat a 15/6+1 fEarful and more watts that you'll ever need. If you are in a really big room [or outside] bring two or a 1515/66+1, and twice as many watts as you'll ever need.
if you aint tried it - I don't think you have any idea what you are missing.

I assume you agreed on the price when you bought it, so not sure what your point is there.
IMO, if you are upset with the wait time (not sure what was originally promised), I would just cancel the order. Don is very good about sending money back to anyone who is not happy, from what I understand anyway.
Just an FYI that although the LDS take on the fEarful 15-6 can drink power and get stupid loud, it's sensitivity seems quite good. I've been spending some quality time with it under my Walkabout. Even with only the 175 watts, it's very loud and the tone is absolutely beautiful. The 15-6 is deeeeeeeep, faaaaaaaaaaaaaaat and clear.
You expect a cabinet from a builder to ship the next day? Do you understand yours isn't the only order Don is working on? The grill has to be made, the handles, speakers, insulation, crossover and inputs have to be installed, as well as casters--possibly. Don does all this on a per cab basis.
$850 isn't a lot for a custom cabinet. There are production cabs that cost more.
I'm sure the cab is worth the wait. My LDS 410 is a monster.
If I recall correctly he told me he ships on Fri. Maybe goin out soon. In all fairness it appears you believed it wasn't loaded, but would ship pretty quickly as the structure was built.

I think this needs a free bump. good, valuable information that get's "lost in the mix" too often.
+1 The 15/6's and 12/6's are quite high SPL, but can really hammer with some power.
Another thing that is often misquoted is that 'the 12/6's need more power because they are lower SPL'. That's not really true... an Epifani 112UL is lower SPL than a 115UL... but that doesn't mean that putting more power into a 112UL will make it as loud as 115UL. It's just a smaller cab that puts out less sound at every level of power... high or low.
Let's not hammer on him (CDweller). At this point, we don't know what Don promised. If Don said 2 weeks, and it is now 4, that's not cool and I would be a bit miffed also. If exact timing wasn't discussed, then 4-6 weeks compared to the current 10 weeks or more seems reasonable.
The pricing is obviously not a valid issue, since that was a known and agreed upon at the purchase.
I am again not associated with LDS in any way, other than I dig the cabs, like Don, and live right down the street
If he's late and doesn't call the customer... that's not good... period. All I know is that Don and I rarely get together any more since he is working like a dog. However, he needs (IMO) to contact every customer that is over the promised delivery time and let them know where they stand. For me, I don't really care if something is late as long as I'm given the info, an explanation that isn't bull****, and the opportunity to get a refund if the wait is unacceptable.
Yes, he is, and was offered to me for a cab that was supposed to be ready by early May ( still waiting ). I like the guy , love his work ( I'm a repeat customer ), but it's clear to me that he either needs an assistant/secretary/helpmate, or, needs to double the wait time quote as a matter of form.
No way to get help... margins are razor thin in this business. He needs to greatly increase prices to reduce demand, and increase wait time quotes if the volume of orders stays at a high level.
However.... none of my business. If Don wants to pay my standard consulting fee, I'll fix it for him

Strange - I emailed yesterday (or was it Wednesday?) asking for an update. Call him. His e-mail responses seem a bit hit-or-miss lately. Probably because he's so busy.
