congrats Bob, what i know about LEJ neck is it never move a lot: in a concave or convex way,it seems yours is an long time made LEJ
anyway on my one
when i need (very rarely)to set-up the trus-rod,it's smooth and very active,thanks to Brian's 3 parts neck construction:it never moves,
about strings i use personal gauge with nickel round D'Addario or
a fresh set of Slappers Labella 6 strings....

Just put Labella Jamerson flats on my LEJ hollowbody. There's a sound with flats commonly called "thump" and I now have discovered there is a sound beyond it called "thuuuump!"

I've just placed an order for what I consider to be my modern take on a classic fender J.

I've ordered a 5/21 Exotic.

Ash body with QMT top. Trans white over the QMT and solid white on the non-QMT parts of the body.

Birds eye maple neck with pearl white block inlays AND neck binding.

Tort pickguard with chrome hardware.

The vol/tone-vole/tone pre-amp.

I can't wait to get it! I'm dying of waiting already and it will be another few months!!!

Hey Ras,

Welcome aboard. Good to see yet another Aussie getting into these basses. LEJ necks are the best I have ever played. Blocks and binding will just be the icing on the cake for a bass like that.

Are you going for single or dual coil pickups?

I'm going for dual coil slimbuckers. I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to looks but I don't want any of the hissing normally associated with single coils

I loved the couple of LEJ's that I got to try out in the past. They felt as comfortable and as familiar as my 08 MIA J, which is what I was after. The neck and string width were very much like a J-bass, and since I like J-basses that was only a good thing.

And I liked the fact that they're actually custom built instruments, exactly to my specs. For a decent price!!! I can't wait :-D

Just wanted to say thank you to Brian and Chris for doing such an amazing job on my two 6/24's. The Cream Top was a copy of bass they had already done but with a rosewood board, but the redburst was something different and they really nailed it, which shows they not only really listen but really care as well. I wanted it to be a dark moody bass and they nailed the feel and the fine detail.

Exotic 6/24 Cream Top Rosewood and Exotic 6/24 Redburst Spalt Top Ebony Lined Fretless (the red fretlines were Brians idea). Still shake my head out how well they came out.
