but now i think it just makes you look like a noob.

Well these days after 33 years playing, the dots on the neck cannot be seen with the naked eye, glasses on a hard rockin bass player was not what i had in mind...so the bass has been slowly creeping up so i can see the dots. Still have not worked out if low A is on a dot or between a dot...check with the guitarist before each song, he will know. They allways know.... Regards.
