Lowest Priced New Basses Ever??

FWIW, when I saw that the seller had relisted and showed shipping from NJ, I contacted him and asked if I could have my order shipped from NJ instead of China. He got back to me and said yes and that I should receive them in 5 days. If he's a scammer, he's got the best manners of any scammer I've ever seen:thumbsup:.

I'm still confident that we're all going to receive our instruments, but my hope that my that my shipment is going to come from NJ instead of China is somewhat diminished after my last correspondence w/the seller. Keep in mind that I ordered with the full understanding that it would be coming from China. I only asked about shipping from NJ because his later listings showed NJ as the origin. I suspect there are some small translation issues w/the seller rather than dishonesty.

Hi. I purchased 2 of these Friday February 28. I see that you now have the same items shipping from New Jersey, USA. Can I possibly change my orders so that I receive them from the US for faster shipping? Thank you.
Charles

Your previous message

Thank you for the quick reply. I just tracked my packages and it shows they're still in China. Are you sure I'll have them in 5 days? Thanks,
Charles

As as been mentioned, it costs more than that to ship! Seller feedback shows lots of positive notes from recent $35 guitar sales... and most recently one glaring complaint about fraud. Hard to see how any fraudster can benefit from this, really? Or for that matter, any legitimate trader, unless they are looking for karma-points (exposure-bux??) :wacky:
I learned my lesson on "if it sounds too good to be true" after getting burned twice. So now I fight the urge and avoid these "great deals".

Yeah this doesn’t look good, but I hope it works out for all that have ordered. I’m sure you’ll let us know.

Some people flamed the guy with negative feedback... well before they could have possibly received a bass.

There is also positive feedback in the same way. Before the bass could have been received. It's likely the seeker is trying to counteract the negative feedback.

FWIW department - American labor and production is excessively inflated by our tax system. [Common sense flag on] When you TAX something, you raise its price. American labor and production endure a ridiculously high tax rate - not to mention administrative and overhead expenses. If all taxes on American labor and production were eliminated, we may see inflation finally end, and prices come down to an equitable level with wages. (FYI - aggregate taxes take 44% of the GDP - local, state and federal)
We may have the best funded government in the world, but I'd rather things change so working stiffs get a better deal.
. . .
As to the cost, if they're using automated / numerical control milling machines to crank out necks and bodies, using factory second wood stock and inserting the cheapest generic hardware, yes, you can build instruments for a ridiculously low price. Truss rods might not be correctly set up nor the bridge intonation adjusted, but, hey, what do you want for your $$$.
. . .
addendum - I recently picked up a deal on a Squier Jazz bass. As I expected, the previous owner never had it set up and the neck was practically flat, so it buzzed everywhere. He compensated by raising the bridge so the action was horrible. I eased the truss rod, measured the neck bow, and when it was set to the proper clearance, readjusted the string height and intonation. Plays great.
