LPB - Black or Tort PG?

For some reason I have a visceral reaction to tort on blue.

Mint with rosewood would be the historically accurate combo iirc. However, I’d likely go antique white pearloid.

I’m wary of black and blue. But this one looks good.

I’m picky about tort, but this particular one looks good too.

I have also done a white pearl on LPB that looks great, especially with white pearl blocks.

Of the two, Black. But, my real choice is Mint Green or Parchment.

Blue and red clash. While LPB and tort are not blue and red, they are still in the same general family. I like tort on black, sunburst, white, red, but not on blue or green bodies unless they are pastels.

For me the formula is simple:

• LPB with dark fretboard = white pickguard
• LPB with maple fretboard = black pickguard

I did black pearl on a similar colored Sadowsky jazz. It looks fantastic!

Both look great. I’d be tempted to go black and black hardware.

I lean a bit more towards tort with the rosewood board though

I have a PJB in Lake Placid Blue.

Which choice in Pickguard...Black or Tort? Or is there another color you like? And why?

I bought the 4 ply Tort PG for only $10 from MusicLily on Amazon. I had to Dremel out a little around the P-Bass pickups but otherwise it was a perfect fit.

I'm a fan of black but without the while lamination. Solid black.

I’m working on a custom build with more of a robin egg and thinking black pearloid, but it will have an ebony board and all black hardware. I considered tort but I think it’s all about the fretboard wood

I agree. When you have a really nice base color like, LPB, you didn't need anything snazzy to dress it up.
