This is normal?!?
I mean makers of noisy or faulty products use that line to try to tell users that they should accept the noise or faults without complaint.

The Catalinbread Heliotrope is nothing short of awesome. It can do this tone and a lot more.
However, I am not a fan of public bashing and exposition of emails.

Well, generally speaking I agree, but if a vendor or producer has been given every chance to set things right but respond in a bad way then I'm actually all for pulling their pants down in public. It's consumer awareness and information I want so I don't have to make the same mistake.
It works both ways really, just look at the fantastic PR some customer oriented pedal builders get here. If you're smart you can benefit hugely, if you're not you can create badwill and it will hurt your business.
Welcome to the Internet and instant spread of both good and bad.
and 99% of the smaller guys out there KILL THEMSELVES to give amazing customer service. even with pedals that they made that somebody bought second hand, so they have zero profit in it at that point. BriBri from SS/BS/DFAS, Taylor from IE, Matt from W&C, Ryan from Dr. Scientist, Ryan from Fuzzrocious.....
so, this thing is a piece of crap. i don't like trashing builders or their products, but when i contacted him and politely asked if mine was broken because no WAY could he think it was a good idea to release a pedal with such a loud, obnoxious, always on carrier signal...... he said that's just how sample rate reducers work. which is funny. because my Malekko Bit didn't, my Bug Crusher doesn't, my cheap as butts Mooer LoFi Machine doesn't, the Mobius doesn't, the Hexe Bit Crusher doesn't, the IE FrantaBit doesn't....... i'm sure i'm missing a few that i've owned or had on loan that don't add in an even more horrible version of the hum that so many of us spend hundreds of dollars on cables and power supplies to avoid.......
then, even though he doesn't state this anywhere on his site, he said he doesn't do refunds. for some asinine reasons that are true of every smaller builder i've ever bought from. and 99% of the smaller guys out there KILL THEMSELVES to give amazing customer service. even with pedals that they made that somebody bought second hand, so they have zero profit in it at that point. after bristling Luck Duck guy offered me a refund, minus 30 percent. bite me. stand behind your product or don't.
demo vid of the useless crap that is the 8 Bit Duck -
Luck Duck Pedals 8 Bit Duck is a piece of garbage
While it is unfortunate that the pedal didn't work out for you...it does state on the website that he does not issue refunds...
That is pretty lame! I don't feel so bad now, he should of had it stated on his website from the beginning. IMO the builder should of taken the loss and made it right instead of offering the discounted refund. 1 loss in sale isn't worth a bed reputation. He only put that up after this blow up with Behndy. When he bought the pedal (and even when Behndy first starting talking about this crap), the page didn't say anything about refunds at all. If he tries to claim that Behndy should have known that he doesn't offer refunds, then he's being a slimy cheat. But you can't fool the internet, it remembers all:

And Spencer from 3Leaf Audio. He's in that category.
Sorry to hear about what happened and thx for the head's up. Never want to buy from a company like that.
Which of the pedals you owned or tried was/is the best one?

for straight sample rate reduction the Bug Crusher is my favoritest ever. that thing is a BEAST. the one i have is a little bit noisy in my chain, so i use it for recording and i'm on a search for a live board one. the Mooer LoFi Machine is surprisingly good. the crusher on it sucks, and the SRR side doesn't have as much range as most. the Malekko Bit was REALLY GOOD, except the first run ones had a slight tone and volume drop. he said he fixed it, that's what i'm trying to grab one of next.
Iron Ether Frantabit, best I've found, lot's of fun.
The Malekko Bit does break or arrives broken, zero fun (unless paying return shipping is fun for you).
Good luck with the crappy duck.
