Luck Duck doesn't give refunds, 8 Bit Duck is AWFUL

Remind me to NEVER buy a Luck Duck Pedal. What a jerk.

I've had personal dealings with the owners of 3Leaf, smallsound/bigsound, VFE Pedals, Wren & Cuff, Fuzzrocious, and Aguilar. Each one was top notch and went above and beyond to either help me, fix my problem, or get me the info I needed. I'm sure there are plenty more like this too, so I'm not going to waste my time and money on Luck Duck pedals.

No good. Things happen in transit. And builders make mistakes just like anyone. But to even suggest keeping 30% is out of control. The ILF stuff is just silly. I am not a builder, and I have only been on these boards for a year or so. But I know who behndy is and if I read a negative post from him, I'm gonna take it into consideration. I love that the dude wrote "some of you know what your talking about". What a boner.

i appreciate that homie.

yeah, i wouldn't want anybody to hate or distrust a company just because i don't like them. but this guy.... he mishandled everything at practically every stage. then the changing what his site says while we were still in dispute with PayPal was kinda shady, then the alt thing is SUPER shady.

i just want the information on how he does things out there. so people can make an informed decision.

but for me, like MNBongo said, there are SO many good builders that bend over backwards to take care of people. i have no interest in supporting the ones that don't.

I agree with you whole-heartedly. Tone and build quality are my major factors when choosing my gear but builders who take the time out to answer questions and strive for optimal customer support are the ones I'm FAR more likely to support. Off the top of my head here are some that match that criteria:

3 Leaf, Wren and Cuff, Aguilar, Darkglass, [sfx], Bordwell Basses (even though I didn't end up placing an order, Cliff was more than happy to answer my questions and discuss a potential build).

But yeah, while bit-crushers and crazy fuzzes and the like aren't really my thing, Luck Duck won't be receiving a penny from me after reading this thread. If he'd have handled this with some tact my opinion would probably be different, but he's done nothing to make me want to do business with him... ever.

so WEIRD. i was right where you were..... i.... had forgiven him. i was just assuming he was a good guy that made some mistakes. so even though part of me wanted stuff online so people could make an informed opinion on whether or not he was somebody you should give money to, i was going to take down threads and vids and all. but to me at least, he's shown that he doesn't seem interested in doing the right thing. had to be badgered into admitting the pedal was broken, said it was a hassle to repair it, had to be badgered into issuing a full refund, changed his site to make my PayPal claim look invalid, then went all undercover shady style to try to.... actually. i don't really understand what he was trying to do at that point.

yah. i don't hate him or anything. i don't know the guy. but i sure as hell never want to give him any of my money or support his business in any way.

I like the part where he says everyone must be bored to be online. Or maybe we are online to find out which products to buy and which ones get us 'luckducked'
Wouldn't it serve the builder right if "luckducked" became a widely used term for getting screwed by a small pedal builder?

"Don't buy from (insert name of customer service impaired pedal builder here); I know a couple guys who got luckducked by him."

Bendude,

You know, if you used or had any clue about pedals and sounds this kind of thing would never happen :D

Srsly, he picked the wrong guy to luckduck.
Glad you got the refund. Sadly, @sshats remain that way until they unstick their heads...

However, I am not a fan of public bashing and exposition of emails.

Dunno what's happened over the years to make people forget that this is how capitalism works: products and services are promoted and demoted by word of mouth and customer testimony. There is no right to success or right to spotless reputation. It's a really simple concept and it used to work before cronyism came along.

i know. if ONLY i would try out a pedal or two or have some type of interaction with builders before i open my mouth.

if ONLY.

Jazz - i'm with you. i don't like ANY of this. sad fact is, i would be out my money, or 30% of it, and other people would get stuck in the same situation maybe. i only put some of the emails i was sent out so that it wasn't a one sided OH I GOT BURNT **** THAT GUY affair.

Avvie - f'realz. small business with bad customer service? eep. nooooooot the best idea.

amazing story...I don't know ya personally or anything Behndy, but after lots of lurking on gear sites I've come to respect your opinions very much, and I think a lot of other guys feel the same way. You're a prominent net citizen in these circles...NOT a guy to be luckducked with if a pedal builder has any understanding of the modern world.

lol. thank you suh.

see... i was going over this whole thing with my little brother for an outside, non-musician opinion. he was boggled that time after time as soon as it's close to a resolution or i'm accepting his request to take stuff down.... he or his camp does SOMEthing that rages it all out of control again. lol. a friend said it best, "does.... does he **** gasoline?".

i HATE talking about bad things with builders. i can only think of 2 or 3 other times there was an issue with a pedal i bought (because at LEAST 90% of the builder community are deliciously wonderful peoples), and that was all handled privately and even if i might have wanted more service, i saw where they were coming from.

this is just..... silly.
