+1 on the Leather boots Engineer steel toe are bestLose the Hat.
Lose the glasses.
Lose the baggy shirt.
Look into the audience instead of at your hand.
Look anywhere BUT at your hand.
Keep your feet apart. Dominate your part of the stage.
Keep your mouth open like you're yelling.
Fix your strap so that you can hold your bass more level, like youre curling it.
Pump some iron.
Dont fall for that "chucks" advice. Get leather boots.

But don't work the crowd in unmetal ways. Metalheads are very sensitive to that kind of thing, and you absolutely cannot do any of the following without the risk of offending the audience:most importantly, work the crowd.
But don't work the crowd in unmetal ways. Metalheads are very sensitive to that kind of thing, and you absolutely cannot do any of the following without the risk of offending the audience:
grinding your hips
wiggerish arm movements
synchronized crab squats
any synchronized dance moves other than headbanging
rocking the mic
the robot
etc. etc. etc.
I say this with all seriousness and without trying to hurt any feelings but this is a joke right? How do you look metal? If you have ask how to look metal, you are not metal. Metal is a way of life, an attitude, a movement, its not a fashion statement. You can go to Hot Topic and "look metal" for about $100 of crappy clothing. Its all in your persona, the way to act, the person you are. This is not to be fake or try to be something you are not. If a jacket and funky hat is what you want your image to be, go for it. Thats who you are. Mighty Mighty Bosstones go with the full suit action and they are the big guns of the Ska Punk genre.
Play well, play loud, and play hard - That will be more metal then some store bought fresh black Metallica shirt and $90 stonewash jeans with $150 sneakers. I just show up at a show with whatever I had on that day. A pair of old cheap jeans with a Hooker Headers T-shirt or some Harley shirt or whatever, thats because I wear that everyday. Heck I can have a pair of shorts and a BMW t-shirt, who cares.
You are young and are trying to fit in. It does not matter what others think. Play your music and play it well. You never know, someone might say "That dude kills on the Bass and dresses snazzy" - That will be your identity, not something you are trying to create to blend in with others for the sake of "Looking Metal". Just be YOU.
Good luck to you dude and rock on!
This reminds me of a great quote...
"I want to be different, just like everyone else".
Also, Skinny is by definition the look of rock. Wear tight dark clothing, and stop grooming you'll be on it. As a fat guy, I am envious.
OP is a poser. This thread is lame. OP is lame.
