Maki's Two Cents (part 5)

maki,

i've noticed some people drive around little dead critters in the road, rather than running over them again. any idea why?

When a body dies, eventually all the guts and fluids start to sink and pool within itself on the bottom of the body. This is called blood pooling. It sets in after rigor mortis. Depending on what stage of decomposition the roadkill, this can be potentially messy on the undercarriage and or side of your car. Besides, if it's dead, that means some other driver already scored points for that kill so there's no point running over it again. This is just my thought process. I can't even pretend to know what other drivers are thinking. Based on their driving, it can't be much. My two cents. :)

Maki,

Is there a way to end violence in tribal Africa without using carrots?

If by 'carrot' you mean establishing a stable political environment, a reliable infrastructure of roadways, sewers, irrigation, electricity, and education, and creating a marketplace that can support jobs and free enterprise, then I can see no other way than the carrot. My two cents. :)
