Man fights off attacker with a bass

I'll +1 @Tom Baker on a bubinga Warwick Corvette for being a bass that could be used as a lethal weapon.

I've joked many times that this Warwick Corvette Standard 4 I used to have when I played in a punk band would have been a lethal weapon. I've joked that if I clobbered someone in the moshpit with that bass, the bass would be fine (and still in tune) but the poor sap's skull would be dented. (That bass now resides with a jazz student, so it's enjoying the good life.)

Another lethal weapon bass would be this Gibson Victory bass my friend had. He called it the "ten ton bass" for good reason. Sure you need to be strong to lift it quickly enough to wield it menacingly like a caveman club, but one good axe strike would dent a skull.

I also used to own a Guitar Factory 6-string. That thing was 12.5 pound boutique bass I bought for a song and it looked like it had survived five apocalypses. It probably played Bob's Country Bunker on the regular and crushed the skulls of overly rowdy patrons while they were still wearing their ten gallon hats. (If that bass weren't so darn heavy, I would have kept it.)

Atlas Heavy-Duty Mic Stands have a long tradition of being the musician's weapon of choice. Why risk a Bass Guitar?

Wait a minute! How did a bass player afford a Mercedes?

Contrary to popular belief. Bass players sometimes do get the girl, including ones that drive a Mercedes and don't know the difference between a bass and a guitar.

From now one, I'm keeping my cheapest bass on a stand near the front door. On the other hand, I live in Florida and the laws here support defending your home from invasion so I can still keep my Glock handy. However, it's so much cooler and satisfying to beat the crap out of a home invader with a bass.
