Marcus Miller clone alert!!

DW we have never agreed on anything before but this guy does not compare to Marcus Miller. He sounds like many other bassist playing a Jazz bass which has good equalization and compression. I do like the sound of an Ash bass.:bassist:

I found that interesting seeing as thats not really his sound. I guess in a good way that does pave the way for studio work for ppl that want that MM sound and cant get MM though.

Bear in mind that it's a youtube video without a feed from the FOH. I'm sure it was a full sound on stage. But it's not so much about him being a clone but how many Fender Jazz bass led bands are there? Who started the trend?

Yeah, listening to Peter Muller is like hearing Marcus, but slightly different.

But the dudes tone is damn close to Marcus.
And he has EMG's in his Jazz Bass.

Goes to show, it's in the hands, heart & soul. NOT the gear.

The thing about Peter Muller is that he is also a very good writer.I think he might even have the edge over Marcus compositionally.I've always loved Marcus and he's been my main inspiration for most of my bassplaying years and I've known about Peter fonly for a comparatively short time.At this point I hold both of them in equally high regard.But without Marcus, who knows what music would sound like today.

Now Peter Mueller is what you would call a Marcus Miller clone! It's not just the tone of the bass either. Peter's phrasing & licks have Marcus copied almost to a science. There are a few diffs in composition but overall it's Marcus. As a bassist "I" wouldn't want the first words out of anyones mouth to be "you sound JUST like...) I know we all have influences but you have to bring something of your own to the table. I still LIKE his stuff... but it is what it is. :bassist:

Marcus has a version of Portrait of Tracy starting on the upper register.Man what a cover that one is.Mr. Hino sounded just like Marcus in the beginning of the song but when he blew that solo,he also blew my mind.Wow.He's an awesome player.
