I went to this same high school. I guess I was 3 years ahead of him.

Come on guys, we all know there is only ONE Marcus Miller!! I was merely pointing out the similarities by using the word clone incorrectly I suppose! But it's obvious he greatly influenced. His bass is a Jazz with a neck pickup cover and he holds his thumb like Marcus. As for copping Marcus' sound, I've only heard Peter Muller and Oskar Cartaya (the latin version of Marcus) come the closest.

when you say come the closest, are you reffering to playing style or the tone ?
I ask because damn'er every Northen Ash Bodied ( REAL )
70's bass sound like this one or better and there were a ton of cats in my neck of the woods had this same type of tone if they played a 70's jazz bass,but he is a good player and I think most of us were influenced by somebody when it gets to this,hell I'm still convinced that Marcus was influence by Larry Grahm.......oh well what do I know
