No I mean you can post the short directly in the TB thread instead of sending us to the YouTube site. You have to copy the video id and paste it into a normal YouTube watch link.

Like a lot of things, the short format can negative or positive. It definitely got attention for a long interview that some of you would have ignored otherwise.

It is indicative of a the average user's laziness in looking for short, clickbait content where they get a thirty second take with no expansion or introspection. Be in no doubt though, this content has proliferated because it is quick, easy and appealing and that means it is profitable for content creators in terms of revenue and traffic.
It exists because it fills a demand. The product and the lazy audience mutually fulfil each other.
Longer interview video or short snippet, It's just his opinion. Btw, I don't like the high range multi-string bass playing style I hear a lot these days in smooth jazz, but it is written for that instrument. What he played as an example of what not to play/write, I like just fine. Opinions. Carry on.

Who cares? The long form exists. Go find it. Short sound bites for mass consumption are nothing new, and they are always the top level of media. And will always be. There is more content on the internet that any of us can ever consume.
I think you are right. He is alluding to all the solos that cop horn licks without re-contextualizing them for the bass guitar.
SBL is clickbait - they're a multimillion dollar venture at this point and creating small bites and out-of-context pseudo-controversial statements is how they got to that status.
Aside from that, Marcus has written several top 5 singles as well as a Number 1 hit outside of his career as a bandleader. Stuff he wrote still gets clubs bumping to this day.
Anything he says about songwriting is something I'm going to listen to and seriously consider.

Ultimately I presume you care since you've taken the time to quote two of my posts saying that you couldn't understand my distaste for clickbait.
I must be clear that I don't find a potted summary to be a bad thing, but I don't like clickbait that is sensational and not representative of the overall point. The long form exists, thankfully, but as always, the masses can be deceived by only reading the headlines. That isn't good for an informed discourse on the whole.
Take Scott Devine, the clickbait master, for example. He never really says anything sucks, if you take the time to watch his videos. However he used titles like 'six string basses suck' etc because it works the viewer. However, as I have previously stated, a lot of viewers are happy to dig no deeper than the short clip without context or the misrepresented headline.
