And what do you listen to? A bunch of bands that no one has ever heard of that play 900 miles an hour with lyrics you can't understand and singing so bad it makes you want to vomit?

A 15 month tour isnt that long.
I disagree strongly that most people hate them not for their music but because they are popular. Thats ridiculous. I really dont care about them or who listens to them, its a non issue for me, but since you think that everyone only dislikes them because they are popular, Im going to put forward my reasons for disliking them, and they are probably mostly the same reasons that others dont like them, and it has nothing to do with popularity:

- The below average musicianship. None of them are really bad, but none of them are too good either. Especially the boring and simple basslines and mediocre guitar playing.

- The lyrics. They are really bad. And what are these guys, about 30? and they are singing about high school and things that appeal to 13 year olds. Time to grow up a little.

- Their live show. I saw them live last year at a music festival, and they really were nothing special, and their lame jokes between songs only got them booed at.

- The allusions to being a punk band. The whole selling music by selling an image and being paid to wear certain brands of clothes etc. really annoys me.

- I dont like his voice.

Those are only my reasons for not liking them, and as you can see it has nothing to do with their popularity. Im not knocking anyone who likes them, thats fine with me, but dont say that people who dont like them are just saying that thye dont like them to be 'cool'. There are legitimate reasons for people not liking them.

this thread(and all other Blink 182 threads) have ended up turning TBers against eachother wether they disagree on mark's talent or whatever...

I like Blink... So what.

I don't think you have to demonstrate vast talent to be a good basist.

If you write cool bass lines that work with the song, and it communicates well with your fans... then that's enough.

If you don't like Blink, don't buy their CDs. :rolleyes: Of course I don't have any complaints about people saying what they think about the guy + or - .... Because that's what this thread is asking.

Actually, Travis is quite the good drummer. Take it from one who plays drumset as well as bass. Listen to some old Aquabats for a true demo on Travis' true talent.

Every single thread thats started about Mark always turns into a huge he sucks thread. Ive posted many times about posting about him in this manor, and nobody seems to want to listen. Any future Mark Hoppus threads will be closed and or deleted. There is no need for the childlike behavior that subsaquently follows them.

Next time do a search
