Markbass Amp repair?

I wasn't planning on jumping back in here. But I have to support my man Jimmy.

Maybe, Brad, it's time to back out of the conversation if you're expressing paralyzing skeptical doubt at a number of the inferences many of us have made here that seem -- if not true to you -- then at least rational for a member of the general populace to hold.

Reconsider Mike Dimin's expert testimony and thoughtful estimate of what constitutes a reasonable repair price for a micro amp. (You do remember that EA produces micro amps, right, not different in kind from the offerings of Markbass?) If you want to doubt an expert, fine by me. But then who's the irrational one?

I find it hard to take it seriously that you're interested in the truth rather than ruffling feathers. No one thinks for one second that the $415 repair on a Little Mark is something that a representative number of us will have to go through. No one here is that idiotic.

My kodos to JimmyM for taking on "The Brad". Fruitless as it might have been?

wrong? looks like i've been proven right at every turn by those who are in the know like mike dimin. so if you think i've been wrong at every turn, the only thing left is the price of the board repair and replacement, which means you're basically calling me a liar. you know, i don't mind a good argument, but i draw the line at being called a liar. the $300 board repair evidence is right here in this thread, and that $415 thread is on here for anyone who knows the right keywords to look up.

Were you correct that the $300 repair was ONLY a pot replacement?

Of course you were. And all of your guesses are fact too.
:D

but just to placate you, my longtime pal whom i thought knew better than to insinuate that i'm lying, i will spend 3-4 minutes out of my precious life trying to find it. all for you, my brother.

If you'd go back to wardrobe and get out of the drama queen getup you might notice that I didn't insinuate ANYTHING. From what I'd repeatedly heard there was ONE $415 repair and I politely ASKED FOR DETAILS. Because I didn't recall that thread. But how could that be... everyone must've seen that thread.
:hmm:

Granted, asking for details is the same as saying someone's a liar... in your world, ole buddy. In mine it's asking for details, you know, so you can have an idea of what actually happened. Because in my world details matter.
;)

WHOPPO!

Thanks for simply providing what I asked. I looked and couldn't find it.

And yes, that certainly shows a TREND.

All in good fun, of course.
:bassist:

nobody said the entire amp was made in china. just most of the components on their boards. if you want to twist words, this conversation is over. but if you want to have a legit discussion about it, maybe you should stop with the bs.

And the fan is proof of that? You really will accept help from anywhere.
:D

I didn't say anyone said that the entire amp was made in China. Read the words. It helps.

Were you correct that the $300 repair was ONLY a pot replacement?
no i wasn't. however, i was corrected by the victi...er...poster, and after that i don't believe i referred to it as only a pot replacement after that.

All in good fun, of course.
:bassist:
i hate you! i hate all of you!

not really...of course it's all in fun! and again, it's not like i'm totally dead set against markbass. they just need to get these repair costs in line with reality.

I don't take this post seriously, if that helps. You guys are so desperate to make these weak points you're willing to ignore just about anything.

I have all the respect in the world for Mike Dimin, known him for years. That's why I said what I said and asked what I asked. The fact that you and likely people like you don't see them as legitimate questions is telling.

If this were a thread about EA kit and repairs, I'd have no questions about his estimates. Since it's about Markbass, in particular the Little Mark II, which somehow came in way under the competition price-wise with it's introduction, what does he really know about their cost model? If you don't find that to be a legit question, so be it.

Read the thread. If you don't see people talking about the $415 repair as if it's the norm, fine.

Otherwise, maybe it's time for you to back out of this conversation.

But c'mon, Fonzie... you were wr...

I still don't know what the repair costs are. maybe someone could get a pricelist from a depot?

signed,
The Brad.
:D

lol! actually the brad ain't so bad. he just loves to argue. sometimes he's right, sometimes he's way off. good for him...keeps his old ass young ;)

Jimmy, this is what I like about you. You realize the importance of these conversations in the scheme of things. After I've point it out repeatedly.
:hiding:

I'm just trying to look at this objectively. If we were talking about my Thunderfunk, Epifani, Euphonic Audio, GK, whatever amps I own or have owned, I'd take the same stance. But I know some people need to believe this is about me and my "undying loyalty" to MB. It ain't. And as a longtime and now former repair tech I'm stuck with understanding that reality too and trust me, I've seen this kind of jabber about many tech products I serviced. In the meantime there's real life.

And when did you stop having birthdays?
:p

Actually there's an idea for a new thread in here...

If Markbass' parts pricing really should reflect the price of the LMII, how do you feel about how much other companies were charging back then for their much higher priced fair with Chinese or Russian (so I'm told) parts?
