Compare it to LMII/LMIII please.


Is it really any louder/ more omph than the 500 watt LMIII?

And what about the LM800? Did any of those ever show up?

I'm wondering if the LM 800 Tube would be a nice compromise between the LMIII and Shuttle Max 12.0 in size, power, and tone.

If so I could possibly easily loose either my LMIII or SM12 and go with one of these. If I chunk-ed the SM 12 and needed more arse than either could give I could always use both.

Right now I'm preferring the SM 12 in tone and power but really like the size of the LMIII.

To my ear, the LM800Tube is more 'solid state' sounding than the F1, much less the LMII or III. IMO, if the F1 is 'not your thing', the LM800 or LMTube800 would REALLY not be your thing. the F1 tone is much closer to the LMII/III than it is to the LM800tube IME.

You would get more volume though, and a bit more force in the deep low end. However, you would lose the 'warmth' and nice, even mid punch of you LMIII IMO in the bargain. I found the tube to do virtually nothing, at least with my touch, bass, and cabs.

With the 'no questions asked' return policy, you should try one. It's loud as heck, and even though the voicing was a bit too harsh to my ears, that doesn't mean it's not a great sounding head. It again sounds, to my ear, identical to the SD800, which many totally dig. I was hoping the tube would warm it up to the point of it being close to a 'really loud LMII'. Unfortunately, to my ear, it did not.

I found the tube to do virtually nothing, at least with my touch, bass, and cabs.

When I tried the analog LMIII Tube @ Winter NAMM, the tube did virtually nothing~ and that was with Marco at the controls, and through his cabs.

I think if they up the analog power section (for those who need it) & add a real mute footswitch, they will have the Little Mark IV and can call it a day.

+1 An LMIV with a second speakon out, the nice upgraded DI of the LMIII, 100 more watts with the same class A/B design, and a mute switch that is NOT a push/pull on the master, and they will rule the industry even more than they are already doing IMO.

+1....awesome.

I didnt like the push/pull....even the store owner didnt like it. But overall, I really like what Markbass do, so Im only picking tiny things.

LM3 as always gets my vote...for its price, the tone and thump are brilliant. New features will come in handy the more I use it

I'd like to see a 750 watt Analog LMIII however I doubt you'll be seeing any new models from MB since all these current new models and the whole Mo Mark thang.

I for sure do not need Tube Channel but thought it might yield a hotter over all signal that isn't clipped. I have a hard time with clipping the input of some sensitive rigs, with a passive Bass no less.

Also thought the tube might yield that 3 d tone I hear from the SM12.


The 800 watts is making me think.

I much prefer the look of the LMIII over the Tube's.

BTW I have an LMIII.

It seems to me that MB refuse to make a head heavier than a certain amount of weight. I can not see what the big deal in a 10-15 pound MB LMIII analog 800 would be.

Man oh man, I'm sitting here with a brand new LM3 and the MB bag for it setting on the chair in my music room. I haven't even opened them factory seals still intact. I must say I got what I thought was a great deal from MF. Given they're great satisfaction policy I can sure send the LM3 back and get the LM tube 800.
But I am so torn thinking the LM800 tube "looks like the way to go" now. I really can't find much data to make a decision with and what I do is about equally positive for both. I have my Epi UL410s and can't help but think the 800 watts is better suited to the Epi specs. But the LM2 I had sounded so good (before my Epis) I'm just undecided and confused. ??????
Any help in the search for data on these 2 heads gentlemen?

Well if you need more juice is the big question for you though according to Ken the 800 does not have the tone of the Analog Circuit of the LMII/III.

So far for the most part the LMIII gets the job done in spades for me. My only concern with my LMIII is at large outdoor events it might not cut the mustard especially if PA was less then stellar which I would hope would not happen.
