Did a little more testing today, I got the 104 and 106CL cabs, SD800 amp and Sadowsky 24/5 , Fender CCL 5 and Fender jazz 4.

106CL: Very even, thight and thick sound. Incredible responsive and quick. This cab is also very loud and punchy, and more aggressive. Great for rock, but I had no problem in dialing in a very good slap-tone. Very small for a 610, tiltback design makes it easy to move. But no side-handles..
104CL: Also thight and quick. Very warm and more open sounding, with a little more top end when the horn was engaged, but that can also be just that the upper-mid is not as thick as in the 106 cab. This must be one the lightest 410 cabs out there?

I`m very impressed with this cabs, they look and sound great,
but with a little less low-end that I`m used to from my 104HF cab and other frontported cabs I`ve played.

Hey Bugs

I tried the 104HF and I have to say IMHO (to my ears) that it did not have the low-end push I needed. It sounded great but just not with a low C#/Db
I play everything and one of the gigs I'm doing the detune to this and I don't I just play Q5 on the gig.

I'm on the quest for a lighter 4x10 that works great for Rock as well as Funk&Jazz.

To me the Epi's sound buttery smooth, but even then I'm not sure how loud lows are going to sound, since I have not tried one since taking this gig.

On a more positive note I thought the sound of a Jazz and MM sounded great through the 104HF (both being 4's)

Seriously, get an Epifani UL410 out on a gig. It will blow your mind. :D

Yep....Its the leading contender.

I have 1 more manufacture to check out.

Although they are as light as the Epi's they are a great price point.

Ok some of you might boutique folks might look down upon this but Carvin actually.:hiding:

I know...Some might be like :spit:but you know if these new cabs are as good as their power amps.....I wont complain.

I probably going to try the 10 day thing with those guys.
So I can A/B it next to other cabs.

That's cool. I dig the new stuff carvin has put out. Of course, I haven't actually tried any of their stuff, but it looks like they are moving in a great direction with their bass amps and cabs.

Just curious, but have you thought about or tried the Avatar B410 Neo? I had one before I bought my epifani stuff, and I thought it was great.

I tried the Avatar and A/B-ed next to my Genz Benz.

Again I don't think it stacked up in the lows....Although I thought it was very punchy.

What Genz-Benz cab do you have? I used to own the xb series, as well as the 212NeoX from genz benz. Those cabs had great low end extension. I did thing the B410Neo sounded great though, and very punchy as you mentioned. The Genz stuff is great too. None of them match my UL410 though. ;)

I'm using the GB 410T-XB2.
One hell of sounding cab.

I'm finding out that a clear yet deep low B is key (to me).
The Avatar I thought was fine with a 4 string.
Reminded me of a GK cabs.

With the new original gig....I'm in the low zone more than I ever have been for any gig. I'm going to try the 10 day deal.

If it works out then great.
If not I join the Epi.

I have my eye one one other 5 but other than that I'm gas-ed out...really. No more. :p

If the you like the GB cab, why are you looking for a new one? Is it just for the weight savings on the neo cabs? If you aren't worried about weight and want a cab capable of super lows for a good price, check out Acme.

You and me both, brutha. :)

On a side/related note, this last weekend the sound guy CRANKED the PA for the last set, and we were in a space where I could feel/hear especially the low end from the FOH mix. We have a 2x18 sub on each side of the stage. Every time I hit my low B string I think wall fell down somewhere... it was totally fun... :D

Its a bear to move.
Not just in weight (which is starting to be a concern) but just size as well.

I have a Acme B-2 and like it.
To me the Acme is a tool like the MKII.
I think the Acme goes the deepest than any other 2x10 on the market. I think it has its place.

I'm playing the balance of weight, size, low-end extension, and clarity, and being able to cut it in a LOUD situation. Money is second to the above factors. Its a nice little bonus with with Carvin its smaller then the Genz Benz and falls between the weight of the GB and the Epi. The 4X10 GB is closer to moving around a 6x10 anything else.

At least with the 10-day trial I can give it the true test GIG.

I hear ya. Those GB XB cabs are huge, but they sound great. Well, good luck on your cab search. It will likely never end. :D

Wow... that would be a HOT output bass. Since the input gain is set very low on the LMII, I assume you have to pad down the input on other amps.

My relatively 'hot' output active basses (Celinder, Sadowsky, etc.) don't start to clip the input of the MB heads until around 2 or 3 o'clock 65-75%.
