Just grabbed a Super 200, haven't tried Orange heads or amps ever so this should be fun!

Awesome, can't wait for your review! My best experience with Orange-style gear is the Tech21 Oxford, which was designed for guitar not bass, but does sound great when I get it dialed in. Would love to know how the Super 200 compares to that, but I realize that's highly unlikely (Oxford has been out of production for awhile).

Same! An Oxford with better bass response would be just about perfect for lovers of grind! I have had good results using mine in a crossover blender to add clean bass, but would love a one-pedal solution

I think it's getting the right levels/combo of the Gain, Volume, and Master knobs!
Ah- that is interesting to see. I’m also curious how those controls are arranged in the circuit and if there are multiple gain-stages that can be driven differently by the different controls. I noticed in the Honda Felder vid that he basically never moved the Level control at all

I just got my 800+ today :D Is the little black button by the DI for phantom power, or something else? It's not clear to me what it's for from the website, and I don't want to damage my unit
i would think that it's a ground lift for the DI.

Just received my Super 800+ and only had a few minutes on my not-so-great practice amp (Ampeg BA-108). Quite impressed with it already. Of course, real drive test will be in a band setting, but it seems to achieve what I was looking for, which is something not as colored as my SansAmp BDDI V2 (which I’m keeping for when I want that sound though). I play a Pbass mainly and I like it when that classic P tone shines, with the SansAmp it lacks a bit of clarity. The Super 800+ gives me that clarity and growl that GK is known for.
As said before I’ve barely had a chance to use it but first impressions are good. However I don’t seem to need any of the mini-switches, Lo removes too many lows, Mid gives too much of a scoop, Hi brings to much treble in.

Two things: how do you guys use the Boost on your Super 800/800+? It -obviously- gives me a very big volume boost, not sure that is practical… Do you guys use it as an always-on feature and tweak your volumes accordingly? How does the Boost work alongside the Gain?

Also, I tend to get a “pop” in the amp whenever I engage the pedal… will that go away eventually?

Anyone regarding the boost?
For me in my regular 800, everything about it is always on or always off. The Boost I keep on for a low level of grit. My Damnation MBD profiles any sort of overdrive or distortion. The reason for all of this is that my 800 I only use when I have to use an unfamiliar amp, so I can replace its preamp with the 800. If it's my own GK or another amp I like, I don't use the 800. So it's all or nothing. I don't use it as an "effect."

Thanks!

First practice with the Super 800+ yesterday and I liked what I heard, despite the fact that the practice amp was a bit trash. I've followed your advice and have played with the Boost on, it adds some grit to the sound without overdriving it too much, it gave my Pbass a nice growl :)
Without the boost wasn't bad, but I had to crank things up way more, whereas the Boost made it more manageable.

Nice! Did you run the 800+ into an FX loop or straight into the amp's input? I've never gotten a good result running it into the amp input.
