How do you like that board? The reviews of the attachment plates are all over the map.

Yes. I wasn't able to dial in that Exit...Stage Left tone with it though. Others seems to have good success with it, but with my gear and my hands, I wasn't getting the tone I was going for.

I like it. I got the biggest one Temple Audio makes because I'm always changing my mind and didn't want to have to get a new board. I got some attachment plates for one of the pedals (I don't remember which plate or which pedal), but I ended up not liking it much and didn't use it. Instead I use some clips that I got from Amazon. I attach the clips on opposite corners of the pedals using the screws on the back side of the pedal, then use a screw and nut to attach to the board. For some pedals I had to bend the clips into an "L" shape and use a screw on the side of the pedal. I used these clips:

If you look at the pic closely, you can see how I used the clips. Especially on the Super 40. I also built my own case for it from plywood.

Just to add, I previously posted that I've considered it but since I always use the VTDI, I want to move away from that flavor of tone. To me, the tech 21 sound is more related to Geddy's more modern sound, not his past sound when he used a Rickenbacker regularly. His Ric tone evolved through the years but for me, it peaked around Signals. Coincidentally, that's just before he stopped using a Ric regularly.

Thank you for your reply. That's quite an extensive set up you've got there. When I get my Super 40, I hope to use just that for the bridge pickup. Some form of bass, Ampeg-ish sound for the neck pickup. And then blend them with my Boss LS-2 and out to the amp for live work. For recording, I'd send the 2 signals to 2 channels and blend them to taste. Hopefully that will get me there.

I have a question about the Super 40, I'm receiving one tomorrow. Could the low band EQ also work as as a HPF(-ish)? I know it's not the same, but since the range starts at 30 kHz and there's +/-15db of gain, I'm wondering if it could be used for that application.

The 40 arrived and I think it sounds great. I just tried it at home; I have to take it to rehearsals, but the clean channel is very powerful. The clean channel sounds powerful, but I plan to use it with the dirt always on.

Right now I'm using a Royal Jelly as a preamp/distortion, and, coincidentally, I managed to get the 40 to sound very similar. Great pedal!

I’m new to the thread (and to Master Effects in general) but was lucky enough to receive a Super 400 from Tim to make a demo video for my YouTube channel. So, I thought what better place to share it than here.



I will say that I am far from an expert on the Mesa tonestack, but I did my best. Hopefully this can help someone who is thinking of buying one!

I actually already ordered one upon finishing your video earlier today. I absolutely adore the first iteration of the Super 400 so I was inherently gonna get myself the updated version but I was glad to see someone put out a video demo of it so quickly 👍

I'm about to order the Super Forty pedal so I'm wondering about how much the extra tariffs will be in addition to the shipping fee. ME has this announcement about it on the first page of their website.

I'm in the U.S. and I've got an updated Super 400 heading my way via UPS. I don't currently have a number for ya for import fees yet (it just recently got dropped off to a UPS facility) but I'll gladly give you an update ASAP.

They break down tariff vs all the ******** UPS fees. UPS fees are like $10 or so.
