Master Effects Owners Society

What Moon-bass said.

the mesa has the tone stack before the gain stages like all other mesa amps so it acts more like a tone-shaping filter vs the Super 300 which has a baxandall tone stack post-gain. The 7-band active EQ is a boost/cut gyrator EQ.

as for technical details, the S300 runs off a 9V supply (you can run it with 18V if you have a PCB that is version 4.5 or later) and is IC based.

The S400 uses a ±15V power supply. the graphic EQ runs off the ±15V supply for maximum headroom (equivalent to running off of 30V) and the JFETs are running on 15V. the preamp is JFET based while the GEQ is IC based.

Got my new pedalboard setup and I get to take it for a spin tomorrow when I meet with the boys to jam. I think this setup is going to get me the tonal variety I'm after and the Super 300 is going to be a crucial part in that. Tomorrow is going to be the "getting to know you" stage.

I was expecting the Super 300 to be bigger, so I'm glad I was wrong there. The Sovtek Muff really gives that perspective sitting next to it.

not that i know of. it sounds exactly like the s800 since it's the same circuit.

btw, since i've been stuck in my bedroom for the last 4 days with nothing to do, i did a new rev of the Super 100 PCB. i think this should fix the noise issue.

My wife tells me that I have about 5 boxes of enclosures and PCBs sitting by the front door waiting for me to get out of quarantine to get back into. Super 400's, 800's 800 Pluses, EQFH's and 100's on the way!

@Peaveylover Started the Super 300 Owners Society thread, but I feel Master Effects deserves its own general thread. Living in NYC, I often have to play through some crappy house amp, whether at a rehearsal space or a gig. I finally approached @Sensei Tim at Master Effects to make a preamp pedal of the GK 800RB tone section into a small enclosure because of my tiny pedal board, and he nailed it. I had it called the 800EH because 800RB and it's made in Canada, eh? The same pedal is available as the Super 800.

I finally pulled the trigger on the 800 after agonizing between it and the Super 400.Being the owner of the Super 300 (and loving it) along with a few other tube based preamps I figured I'd try something a bit different.Plus I love the sound of an 80s 800 rb.
I have little doubt the 400 will end up here in Lil'Rhody eventually. It's ironic now that I'm a geezer and gigs are fewer that I've found the sound I searched for ages to obtain. How I'd have loved these pedals back in my heyday.Life's cruel.

Nice! You got #10 if you want it.

Dumb USPS - was supposed to deliver my Super 400 yesterday, but it seems to have fallen into a USPS hole. The postal service in New Orleans is sketchy at best, but lately they've gone to new lows. The last package they misplaced got sent back to the sender ... I'm hoping it shows up today.

Sorry I hear that. The USPS completely lost some expensive gear of mine last month. I had to replace all of it and am now fighting with them just to get the money I insured it for. Never again will I trust anything important to the USPS.
