Master Effects Owners Society

Sorry I hear that. The USPS completely lost some expensive gear of mine last month. I had to replace all of it and am now fighting with them just to get the money I insured it for. Never again will I trust anything important to the USPS.
Yeah, on a regular basis I'll expect a package to show up only to get a "no access to delivery location" alert at the end of the day. The funny thing is that my porch/mailbox are right off the sidewalk and my security cameras show that no delivery attempt was made. Typically the package shows up the next day, but as of late they have lost two packages, sent one back to the sender for no reason, and then this one today ..

What's also bad is that they take their good sweet time updating packages that I ship out. I'll literally go to the post office and give them the package, but it must sit in the back for a day because it's always at least 24 hours before it gets updated in the system, which sometimes leads to irritated buyers. I need to start adding a disclaimer to let ppl know that it will be a day before they get an update ...

Yup. Now I'm only using UPS for that stuff. It doesn't seem to be any more expensive and their tracking actually works. USPS' may as well always say: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So, this finally came today ...

a couple question for @Sensei Tim on the 400 - there are 2 eq's, the 3 band and the 7 band - where are they situated in the signal flow? is it input --> 3 band --> distortion --> 7 band?

and - everyone knows about the 12 6L6's in the power amp section of the 400+, but there is at least 1 12ax7 in the preamp as well - afaik there isn't a 12ax7 in your ME400, how did you work around that?

nice demo of the 400 - i had my heart set on the 100 as a mellower dirt/dist box then the 300, but the 400 sounds so good.... the studio I play in has a MB 400+ and it is an incredible sounding amp - i only play it clean pretty much, but from my failing memory the pedal has that same low-grunt. decision....

yup. that's the traditional fender/mesa way. Tho the 400 is a bit different, the passive EQ is between V1 and V2 to you have

V1a -> vol(gain) control -> V1b -> 3 band passive eq -> v2b -> 7 band active eq

there are 2 valves in the preamp section. I replaced them with JFETs which is pretty common, but had to make some extra additions for filtering to get rid of the harshness than comes with jfets and also had to modify the resistors and capcitors for the bright switch and bass shift to get the same frequency response.

also replaced the inductor-based gyrator EQ on that they have in the 400 with an IC-based gyrator EQ. The EQ runs at ±15V for maximum headroom. the preamp section runs at 15V. there's an SMPS that generates these voltages from a 9V supply.

@Peaveylover Started the Super 300 Owners Society thread, but I feel Master Effects deserves its own general thread. Living in NYC, I often have to play through some crappy house amp, whether at a rehearsal space or a gig. I finally approached @Sensei Tim at Master Effects to make a preamp pedal of the GK 800RB tone section into a small enclosure because of my tiny pedal board, and he nailed it. I had it called the 800EH because 800RB and it's made in Canada, eh? The same pedal is available as the Super 800.

From what I've seen and heard the MBD could absolutely be one of the best bass distortions out there.Should I decide to grab a new distortion pedal that'd be it.
Yeah, I can't speak highly enough about the MBD. Amazingly versatile. I usually use GKs, but at the band practice space there's an Ampeg B15. I use the MBD for everything. One knob will make it work with either the GK or the all-tube Ampeg.

Thanks for the love,love, love ! I never owned an RB 800 but I played through them enough back in the day to know I liked them.So I'm a novice on them basically.Can you suggest a setting for the "Rails" tone, or any good sounding settings for that matter?
I think others here would be better at answering that since I don't rely on this for my dirt. I use a Damnation MBD for that. I got this because in NYC it's anyone's guess what crap amp you might be forced to play through. So 2/3 shows with my new band I've used this into an FX Return and it's been fantastic. I played a show on Thurs. and the house bass amp was a GK, so I didn't need this. But I'd guess cranking the Boost and also playing with the Vol knob will get you in that territory.

I'm just curious.All I hear in regards to this and the amp itself is "can it do rails"? And one wouldn't generally want this or the amp for grit.It is a gorgeous clean device and will be treated as such.
