Master Effects Owners Society

Fat man and little boy
My Super 800 arrived yesterday and I'm learning as I go.I have been getting clean sounds but I love the tones.
It has been decades since I've played through an GK-RB 800 so all I have are memories of liking it at the time.I don't know what rails is or how to get there but the tone I'm getting is powerful and cutting.I bet slappers love this amp-preamp.Once I get an idea of things it's going to be terrific, because now I'm only in the getting to know you stage.
To steal the last line from Casablanca; "This could be the start of a beautiful friendship".

I think others here would be better at answering that since I don't rely on this for my dirt. I use a Damnation MBD for that. I got this because in NYC it's anyone's guess what crap amp you might be forced to play through. So 2/3 shows with my new band I've used this into an FX Return and it's been fantastic. I played a show on Thurs. and the house bass amp was a GK, so I didn't need this. But I'd guess cranking the Boost and also playing with the Vol knob will get you in that territory.
I think I have it! Earlier a forum mate replied to my query on "Rails"stating that I use the breakdown from G&Rs Welcome to the Jungle for example.. The part where it's only bass while Axl says "welcome to the jungle baby, you're gonna die"! Well if that's infact the "Rails"tone then I've found it.
A bit of bass heaven.

Not sure how this slipped past me, but I'd never heard of Master Effects / Tim until last week. Over the last couple years, I've had this bug in the back of my head that surely someone could make a Peavey Mace in a box style pedal (I play bass and guitar, and this was coming from my guitar brain). I figured it was too niche of an idea to ever exist though. Out of the blue, I googled "peavey mace pedal" last week, and wouldn't you know Tim created one 6 months ago, the Virge. I've got one ordered, so I guess that makes me a pending member of this club. Glad to hear all the positive feedback on his pedals. Sounds like he makes some great bass preamp pedals too. I did reached out to Tim to ask about the phaser circuit in the original Mace, as it's one of the killer features of that circuit, but he said that unfortunately it had a lot of obsolete parts and so was not included in the Virge design. I'll follow up here when I get it, should anyone be curious.

It was a toss up between this and the Super 300. I snagged a Super 300 from the classifieds and should be receiving it tonight!! I'll give my thoughts once I'm able to dial it in with one of my bands at volume.
I only heard of master effects less than 2 weeks ago.

I miss the tone from my SVT3pro from years ago so I'm hoping I can get a similar tone going through my Berg Forte HP (don't care for the super modern clean coming from that amp).

To the Super 300 users. Have you found much of a difference with how the pedal reacts when stacked with other drives first or last in the chain?

It depends on the drives you're using, but I generally get the best results putting overdrives before the Super 300, and fuzzes after it. Fuzzrocious Li'l Fella->Super 300->some kind of Big Muff has been my favorite drive chain for a while.

I've tried a few boosts and high gain pedals before the S300, and it wants to compress the hot signal, so I tend to use it before those pedals. I suggest experimenting with its placement in the pedal chain.
