Matching headstock poll

The headstock finish not matching the body literally screams the builder was skimping to save money. It makes wonder what other corners were cut in the pursuit of profit.
Admittedly... that was the coolest thing I'd seen all day. Who'd have thought they made basses!
It depends not he bass.
On a solid colour Fender-or Fender style bass--yes.
On a natural finish--maybe--sure.
But on a sunburst?
Not really.
As for my basses:
My EB3 copy has a natural body & a black headstock--which works.
My SR500F sort of matches--similar stain anyway.
So one does & one doesn't.

What about sparkle finishes?
The two outside basses in the above pic have matching headstocks but the one on the right is a ginger burst.
I remember seeing some Stingray in black with matching headstock, maple fretboard, and gold hardware (kinda looked like the sparkle one posted above). It's one of those things where I love the look but prefer the feel of maple, and I just haven't found any of those I dig. Yet.

I don't generally care for them as much on maple boards - but sometimes... (and, being too 'vintage correct' oriented, on stack knob Jazzes they always strike me as not right).

I have a habit of swapping necks - doesn’t happen too often, but often enough that a matching headstock would be a hindrance to flexibility.
That said, most of my basses are natural or stained wood, and most of my headstocks are roasted maple, so although they may not match exactly, under the lighting conditions I play in, they don’t stick out like a regular maple headstock does.

I’m good either way SO LONG AS we are not talking about a dark colored bass with a dark colored fretboard sporting a “natural” finished maple (or other light colored wood) headstock. That just feels like the bass is wearing a tuxedo with white gym socks.
I think unmatched headstocks look bad like the bass build was never finished. I couldn't handle it. The back of the neck unfinished is annoying too, but not as bad.
Since I won’t be looking at the headstock while playing the bass, I don’t care. Looks are far distant third behind playability and sound.
