Matching Headstock

I like them, but only have one so far; this G&L SB2.

I always thought a Lyte would be a killer candidate for conversion, with the 4-knob rout and the P/J routs, battery box. This conversion with all EMG horsepower, a great paint job and bespoke pickguard, is a seriously fine and well thought out example a couple steps past what even I'd had in mind. A first class build, and my congrats. Brilliant !

The Lytes were another design Fender SHOULD have continued to mine: In a way, a Fender equivalent of the Ibanez Soundgears in that it's about as small and 'lyte' as you can get in a conventionally-shaped instrument, and one of THE great answers to the question when someone finds a PBass or Jazz too big for comfort. Had they developed them to the level of this custom, they'd be selling like hotcakes.

Hats Off to Ya ! !

Coincidentally, or maybe not, my other 4 is a soundgear, natural ash with matching headstock.

I think matching headstocks look good...for basses that are painted. I’m more of a “buy wood that looks good without having to paint it” kinda guy.

You can have your cake and eat it, too.

That’s beautiful. Love it!

Thank you!

Preferred. I wouldn't reject a great bass if the body was finished and the headstock natural, but if I could call the shots on a custom build or refin I'd have it matched. Show me two identical basses except one has a matching headstock, I'd take that one every time. Eye-catching and classy.
