Matt Freeman

It probably hasn't been mentioned yet here, but I've heard that Matt has arthritis.

This hasn't been confirmed, but it is apparently true according to sources in the proverbial "know".

I would be willing to believe it though, Lars and Tom both are off on side-projects, Brett's playing around with some groups...Matt's taking a break I think, he also plays with Auntie Christ though..I don't know the full scoop, though.

Excuse me for my lack of knowledge but what is
"arthritis"?

Its a disease that results from the bones in your joints rubbing up against one another and become inflamed. It makes bending your arm, walking, opening and closing your hand, or playing bass, very painful. It occurs when the fluid that greases your joints (forget what it's called) runs out.

Cracking your knuckles is what happens when bubbles in these fluids burst, and cracking your knuckles can increase your chances of developing arthritis.. SO PLEASE DON'T DO IT!!

I play fast fingerstyle metal, punk, rock and alternative. Haven't been impressed by alot of pick players style(s) although I totally envy their tone. Matt was the first pick player that totally made me rethink my bias against pick players. I still am a little biased against pick players...yes...I know it's ridiculous! but damn....Matt is the MAN! I could listen to his bass lines all damn day!

yep...he is. I've seen them on SNL once and saw that he used a pick but if you listen to his lines...the tone he gets...it's pretty obvious. Impossible (well maybe not impossible but REALLY HARD) to get that tone with fingers. Even though I'm mostly into finger style players...Matt is way up there as an influence.
