Looks single scale, but has those weird squiggly adjusted intonation frets, I forget the brand name of that. (True Temperament)No... but when I was looking at YouTube I went to MTD basses because of a bass used in a video- the logo is surprisingly similar to those of Michael Tobias Designs... turns out the bassist was using a Mattisson. Great sounding instrument if you dig the modern/active sound. Bassist's name was Henrik Linder. It looked as though Mattisson built him a bass with multiple scale lengths but without the Dingwall/fanned-fret thing...
Interesting...
Reviled?!?Anders Mattisson and Henrik Linder are both Swedish, and bubbling-unders for world fame. I don't see why Dirty Loops is so reviled as a band. They are incredible players in a certain genre (pop reinventions with monster chops in a trio format). Is it just jealousy?
Henrik Linder playing his Mattisson Bass.

Does anybody know what scale Henrik's bass is? 35"?

Digging up this topic. I am intrigued by that slap ramp. Anyone have any experience with that? It looks weird but I think it will work for more advanced slap techniques.
Also has someone experience with those true temperament frets? Do you really hear the difference? Do they make your bass better in tune? Or do they create a solution for a problem that doesn’t exist?
I have played a Strandberg Boden with the TT frets. I can't say that I really noticed that it sounded more in-tune. It did sound and no, I didn't measure it. I don't doubt that the notes are relatively more in tune with one another, but like anything related to this, it's dependent on a proper setup. The TT setup is also going to be optimized for a particular tuning and for a particular set of strings and if you're trying to wring all the possible benefit from them, you need to stick with that. I think there's enough dissonance happening in music that I fail to see the huge benefits of doing this, but hey, why not make a bass play more in tune?
I guess I'd say that based on my experience with it, I wouldn't seek out a bass with TT frets, but I also wouldn't discount one that had them purely for that reason.
The prices for Mattison basses seem to have gone sky-high. I'm seeing them listed (and selling) well above 10K USD.
Thanks. That’s what I think about the TT frets too.
And yes you have to be a sponsored artist or airplane pilot to afford one of these unfortunately. Maybe that high price is because of the hype that’s created around them?
Yeah, I think that's absolutely the case. I don't know of too many builders (any?) making big money off these types of instruments, so I really have no issue if Mattisson is able to ask that amount for these basses and can move everything they make. From what I've seen on their social media, they seem to move pretty quick. I saw one go up and they were asking (I belive) 16K USD and it seems it sold within a couple of days. I think that demand is a lot of the difference in price between the small builders who are making very high quality basses.
