I've been obsessing about strings. Obviously having a solid B is the primary issue, but I don't want to be playing a telephone pole either. I'm thinking Lo-riders but there is a set of Chromes with a .132 B that might be nice. I was also trying to get some information on What Cliff Bordell uses as he seems to be the expert on this stuff. I'm assuming standard length strings will work ok.

MEDIUM SCALE WARWICK ROCKBASS 5'er, this just changed everything

It says it's only available in 4 string, then goes on to list 5 string options. Not good attention to detail going on there...

You're right about poor attention to detail. Talk about some mixed messages. I think that statement about only available in a 4 string is new. I'm hoping it's wrong and the pictures at the bottom are only what's available to be photographed.
Then that changed sometime in the last 2 weeks. I am still interested in the 32" 4-banger though. It would probably sound killer rerouted for some Big Splits.
Well, I never heard back from Warwick and they took the neck radius numbers for the 5'r off their website. I've resigned to the fact that Warwick will not be the source of my dream bass in the near future

Here she is. Its been a long journey but here are the pics and a short review. My initial impression has been very positive. First and foremost, it's light weight. 8.4 lbs on the bathroom scale 
Very surprising for a five string in my experience. I'm also thrilled with the slim/satin neck (front to back). I previously own an Ibby SR and this is comparable. The bass also offers a very nice traditional passive jazz tone. The control cavity is lined with shielding paint canceling virtually any hum. The controls offer a solid range of tones with master volume, blend, tone, tone. The pups are responsive without being overly hot. I'm also very pleased with the B string. After talking with "Warwick Official" I learned the strings were the following:

The B is a tapered .135. It's as good a B as anything I've played. It appears Wick only offers the strings in stainless steel at this time but I'm not certain. On another note, the bass balances well. I did notice that although it rests comfortably at a traditional playing angle, it did not settle as well with my typical positioning (fretting hand slightly closer to my ear) and dives slowly to the default. I consider this a personal preference and not necessarily a flaw. Fit and finish were overall strong. The bass arrived with nice even frets and a perfect setup although it may have benefitted from some extra love as a NAMM demo. It also arrived with some marks in the finish on the top horn (bottom pic) which can probably be buffed out. I. There also appears to be a light ring in the finish on the top horn as shown in the top pic. Not sure if this is wood grain or not but is more than a reasonable compromise given the discounted price paid.
In summary, this is a great instrument and I recommend it without reservation. I'm happy to say I'm done purchasing basses thanks to Warwick making this happen.
On a personal note, if you want a model from a company, go out and make it happen. Although I can't say for sure, I believe I helped bring this bass to reality. If you follow the thread, Wick misprinted that there would be a medium 5'r available in 2012. When I learned this wasn't true, I wrote to all my medium scale friends and asked them to PM "Warwick Official". Warwick Official subsequently tested the waters with this idea, found some interest, brought the idea back to Wick headquarters and voila! Here I am with smile on my face.
