Meeting great bassists

About 17 years ago I finished a lead guitar gig with one of Australia's top bluesmen, Matt Taylor. The same night the Wailers (Marley's band) were playing a concert in town. I had to drop Matt off at his hotel, which was a horseshoe around a large pool/garden area. The garden was full of the Wailers and their crew, relaxing after a sell-out show.
I eventually found myself sitting next to an older dude with dreads down to his waist, sharing a spliff the size of my arm, trying to converse about bass, music and the meaning of life.
That was Aston "Family Man" Barrett, Bob Marley's bass player, one of the greatest!
