Metallica's best musician is Robert Trujillo. By a looooong shot.

That's not saying much at all. Have you heard him rape "Anesthesia" yet? Wow...I never thought a professional bassist was capable of such suck:

Trujillo was good at funk metal and slapping in Suicidal; but that clip above especially toward the middle is some of the WORST bass playing I've EVER heard! What a way to sh*t on the legacy of Cliff Burton who had style, finesse, dynamics, touch, tone, and a sense of rhythm. Trujillo's version above is the absolute antithesis of all those things.

And, if you happen to think it was an "off" night for him, here's another version of him p*ssing on Cliff's grave:

I could play that 100x better than that when I was 15 with a Morley "Black Gold" fuzz wah. Those clips above are absolutely embarrassing...and some of the most out-of-tune notes ever to be chosen on purpose on a fretboard!!!

I'd have to give it to James' rhythm work as Metallica's best musicianship. Sure, Kirk and Lars are useless, but Robert is just as bad most of the time. His tone just sucks so much that you can't really hear him c*ck it up.

When i was a pre teen, was listening to some heavy metal and punk but once I heard Metallica's "Battery" and "Leper Messiah", I was pulled full on into trash for the next few years. I can't say that Megadeth ever had such an effect on me. That being said I think James and Lars are a couple of douchebags. Kirk, Jason, and Robert all seem pretty down to earth. I'd hang with those 3 guys, given the chance... If you compare the original lineups of the 2 bands though, there's no doubt that Megadeth was the better set of musicians (with a fair argument for Burton vs Ellefson who fill their roles equally well, but it takes something slightly greater to stand out in trash genre so I gave that to Cliff!). I'm not considering the hired guns such as Friedman and Menza. It's easy to recruit talent once you're famous... Metallica is one of those situations where the whole is truly greater than the sum of its parts. Megadeth always seemed to be less than the sum of its parts, despite the massive talent they held...

Megadeth! So far ... So good ... So what - I think is an underrated Megadeth album/CD that just kicks ass from start to finish!

Nothing against Metallica at all - just like Dave Mustaine/Megadeth better.

Want to see a great show? I just picked up "The Big 4 - Live from Sofia Bulgaria" DVD featuring Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer, and Metallica.

A classic album one of my all time favourites, good fun to play along to as well!
I am digging the Countdown live DVD at the moment, sounds like it is dropped by a step to accommodate Daves ageing voice! Hangar is now in C.
saw them in 2012 in delhi.. they were on the countdown tour.. they played hangar 18 and holy wars though :) they are amazing musicians but dave mustaine was in a rotten mood after the gig..

Nice, I saw them last at clash of the titans, that was a long time ago man!!
Megadeth were amazing but Lombardo stole the show for me (don't care much for the rest of Slayer mind you)
