That is one of my favorite bass lines.
My vote goes to Dee Murray... listening to his seamless walking lines on Elton John's ballads made me realize a glaring weakness in my own skill set the other day.
I was going to just add him, but since you already did I'll add Graham Maybe (or however you spell his name).
Not an obvious choice, but a great choice! People think of his thrash-funk stuff first and foremost, but Flea is super-melodic when he plays ballads.Flea
Ever listen to the bass line in Something. I love playing that song.And some Beatles tracks almost have LEAD bass--"paperback Writer" comes to mind...yet he's not flashy...just tasty.
